stick or auto?

What's your preference in cars? Stick or automatic?

Just cover it with black tape. Done deal.
 
preference changes with what type of driving I am doing.
stick is nice for workloads and getting out of tricky situations...sometimes automatic is nice like road driving or in town.
 
I used to driving my current '71 Alfa Romero GTV 1750 w/ 5 speed manual tranny, always rev up over 5K RPM when changed to 2nd gear.
 
Auto... It's the only way I can drive. Dad has tried to teach me how to drive stick when I was 16.... let's just say that it didn't go well at all. I can't drive stick and I don't plan to learn as I prefer Auto.

Tell that to me. My Isuzu's shift light goes on at 2,500 rpm no matter which gear it is on. I just basically ignore it cuz I always shift above 3K rpms no matter what. It drives me nuts when the shift light goes on I think I must had a problem lol. I wud rather there be no lights coming on my gauges.

Good thing my ZX2 Escort aint got the shift light combined with the tach. I did drive a 2001 ZX3 Focus before I bought the ZX2 Escort. The Focus shift light was sooo damn annoying! No wonder why I went ZX2 instead of ZX3 heh.

It's not the cars we have stick shift being more rare than before....it's the country's fault. If you went to some other countries like Costa Rica.....which my friend just came home from visiting Costa Rica for a week. He rented a Dastitu (sp) SUV with 1.5 liter 4 cylinder with stick shift...it's configured to RWD but has 4wd button as well. There's also even city buses with stick shifts, taxis with them, and even minivans too. Stick shift cars are VERY common in Costa Rica.

Most of the minivans are RWD over there....and most of the minivans here are boring FWD.

Yeah, Other countries do have em but USA is getting lazy. NO wonder why it's most obese country. OH well.

If I happen to visit other country and drive the car, I would go for stick! and Right handed steering. I can learn it quickly cuz I drove Right handed Company truck.

My brother's Ford Aerostar has a stick and RWD. Real fun in snow ... as in forget about going up any hill covered in snow.

What obese has something with shift stick? If you are being obese and sit in car and use shift stick so not make any sense.

I don't think being obese have to do anything with driving a stick shift...doesn't make any difference. I think it's some kind of stupid regulations, I don't know. Costa Rica is same as here (left hand drive). Australia and some Pacific Islands, Japan, UK, etc are right hand drive.

Ohhh cool, didn't know they had stick shift Ford Aerostar back then. The last RWD minivan in the US was the Chevy Astro. They ceased production on them in 2006 or so. ALL the minivans here in the US are FWD or AWD with transverse engine configuration.

I doubt it's a regulation. It's just what consumers demand. Yesterday's optional equipment has become today's standard equipment. Look at power windows. Used to be they were optional, but now they are pretty much standard equipment on most cars. Automatics possibly may have been thought of as luxury items at one time.

I know! I want to buy a solid front axle 4x4 truck with stick shift and manual locking hubs and diesel engine. Maybe such a beast exists in Australia.

I picked up a Ford Aerostar van for a smog inspection, couldnt find the auto stick handle as I looked around the steering column, spotted a long shift stick on the floor that puzzled me, never heard it before but I saw the 3 pedals, wtf.
I pulled it into the dyno machine, feels awkward with a long stick shift like I drive a UPS delivery truck. That was one I touched a long shift stick in any mini van RWD in my mechanic years. Rare model?
