That was always drilled into our heads when learning to drive (we lived on a hill where I grew up lol). Habit now I do the parking brake.

I was reading the article that the Jeep he used been under recall for safety problems, so that would bring a possibly of a lawsuit.

I heard on the news that a friend of his said he knew about the recall but hadn't taken the car into the dealer to get it fixed yet. The problem with the Jeep is the shifter can slip out of park or other gears unexpectedly. The shifter was made by the German supplier ZF and in addition to the Jeep it is found on some BMW's and some other European cars. The only car that has reported a problem is the Jeep, but Fiat which is a part of Chrysler voluntarily joined the recall with the cars in their line that use the same shifter. Chrysler was responsible for integrating it into the Grand Cherokees transmission. 1.1 million vehicles are part of the recall.

I'm just really really sad to hear about this... such a very promising rising star... and the way he died.... I'm just in great disbelief.... it's way too "final destination" about it.
