Spelling or sign for "Spinach" & "Garlic"?

I like the rice sign better than the similar one I was taught. I will use it. The rice sign I knew was left hand "bowl" right hand was index and thumb very close "eat" as if eating very small grains from bowl. Yours is better.

Glad you like it. Costello and Sternberg both agree on that one.

seems there are some differances in signs. is this a geographical thing? like the west coast signs might be slightly different at times than the east coast signs?

It does varies from region to region.

Like "hotdog," there is about five variants of it across Canada that I have seen personally.

I think like speaking/hearing persons have regional accents, we deaf folks also have cultural and regional signing accents as well. Dont worry, Bots will let you know if I am wrong. ( I hope)

One of my friends signs "spinach" by making a gesture as if she is downing a can of spinach and then flexes her arm as if she was automatically strong now from eating the spinach like in the Popeye cartoons.
