Texas Lawmakers Consider Higher Speed Limits.
The Story Here
Gee why cant they raise the speed limit here in florida 75? Its 70 MPH in here in florida.I think they should raise it to 75 in florida but 80MPH should be the limit in the US mean NO MORE! If anyoner raise it to 85 that would be too dangerous for people to drive.

Awesome !!!!! I knew that day would be coming in my home state of Texas where I was born and visit from time to time !!!!! Now I am in even a better mood today !!!!!
 :fingersx:

I sent an e-mail to Governor Jeb Bush suggesting him to raise the Florida Speed Limit from 70-75MPH

Higher speed leads to more gas consumption, bad idea.

But People wanna drive faster to get to from point A to Point B sooner. Its dumb to have cops trapping speeders which they should be protecting us from violent criminals and sexaual preditors.

75-80 is a pretty reasonable speed. In one area I lived, there was a stretch of interstate where everybody knew there were hardly any cops, and those who were local had a pretty good idea where they could and couldn't hide. The speed limit was technically 70. So, people averaged about that. I found that doing about 80 MPH is comfortable for me even in areas more heavily wooded than Texas, but doing much faster than that and staying there is a bit too much. If people do 90, which is what will happen if the speed limit is 85, that's going to be very unsafe. The one time I went that fast, because I was trying to not miss an exit--and this on that same interstate that was already moving at pretty high speeds, it scared the wits out of me and I swore I'd never do it again.

But 65-70 isnt fast enough.

Well Montana twice had unlimited speed! The last time they took down the speed limit was right after federal abandoned the 55 speed limit. Then after a year, fatal accident shot up because of idiots don't know what means "Reasonable" speed. Too many people still drive 150mph even if it is raining! Then now they got speed limit of 70mph.

In fact, yes! you would increase fuel consumption when speeding! I already noticed on my bike when I speed around 100mph and it DOES gulp more gas! BUT I need to get home ASAP, it was a long trip from Rochester to Chicago and back! My bike is definetly speed thirsty! I have trouble slowing my bike down, forcing me to keep my eyes on speedometer otherwise I'd go over 100mph easy!

Hardly any cops? Was that in Indiana? I was there last saturday and NOT even one cop was in sight! UNREAL for memorial day weekend! I was crusing at 100mph no problem. But when I enter Ohio I had to slow down! Too many cops out in Ohio!

That would be troublesome to hear because of U.S. Homeland Security concerns.

I guess that is depending how much accidents for each state so you saying that Texas speed limit is 80 MPH. I guess there is not many accidents in Texas in the past. If it become more and more accident then your state law would probably reduce the sped limit to 75 or 70. Here in Massachusetts, most highways are speed limit up to 65 MPH (some are 55 and some are 65, None are under 55 on highway). I think around 1990's or 2000 the speed limit raised to 65 in some MA highway but I wasn't pay attention that much. I think I saw speed limit sign in Maine was 65 or 70 MPH? I havent been in Maine for years. I dont know what about now. Northern Maine is more country (lot of land with few houses) than Massachusetts. So there is not much accidents in Maine.

Nope...it was actually Alabama...only 1 state trooper available per 60 miles. I took a 50-mile trip regularly. You do the math. ;)

I think 70-75 MPH is enough for me. Here in towndown of Rochester one of fwy is 40 MPH but people go faster than that!!! I was like WTF!

~LakeTahoe's comment.. Made me lauff'n so hard... Well Actually state kept you driving bit slower... for their safety.. LOL
Why don't you chase their cars tailaling(sp)? Are you afraid of cop may ticketing you?

Buckdodgers,

Be try Remmy different states law reason to prevent freak accident..
Probably might be and who knows.. their good reasons..

you cannot whine about speed limit and being NOT FAIR another state have high speed better than other state...

I admit that 40 MPH on fwy is way too slow and waste of time! 65 is good enough. The rest on FWY is at 55 MPH.

LakeTahoe,
how do you feel about 45mph? slow?
Canada's law 80 to 100 kph convert to USA ??? i do not know

The speed limit in Southern California is 65 mph.

And here we got all the rap that we are the nation's worst drivers... Hmm. How can we be horrible at 65mph?? :dunno:
The only reason we got the rap because we cannot go 75 legally so we got more tickets than everybody else.
I was shocked to see 75mph in Arizona when I drive there... but then there are LONNNNG stretches of highways with *nothing* around in Arizona unlikely California where there is an exit every 1 or 2 miles along the highway.

Galaxy/BullyMom= Canada's law 80 to 100 kph convert to USA ??? it is about 60mph to 80 mph.
