So what about dolphins and killer whales? They live longer in the wild compared to their captive counterparts, and they are long-lived like we are. They co-exist, relatively, peacefully with us. Do they not deserve to get the same respect as humans?
I think you're confusing human rights with civil rights.
An ape cannot give consent. They do not know the human meaning and the concept of "marriage." Pre-nuptial agreements won't happen, either.
Tiger Wood, John Edward and lot of other people do not know the meaning of the concept of "marriage!
Nobody knows exactly what Tiger Woods political affiiation or leanings.
We still don't know what his political leaning is.
oh good heavens!
Apes are NOT human since they're incapable of understanding "rights" therefore they should not have human rights.
.
I say let the apes vote. They couldn't do worse than humans did in 2008
What about humans that are incapable of understanding rights.....
I say let the apes vote. They couldn't do worse than humans did in 2008
Let's say if scientists had the DNA of a prehistoric caveperson, and was able to resurrect this ancient human race -- would y'all marry one?

The same could be said for Newt Gingrich, Mark Sanford, John Ensign, even John McCain and many more.
A lot of people on both sides are hypocrites.
oh good heavens!

The article said, "We do not have the right to dominate the animals of the Earth. We do not have a right to make them do our bidding and work for us. Some animals evolve highly complex strategies to survive in the wild, and that is what humans did, through our brains. However, our brains do not give us the right to kill whatever we see fit, and remove anything we find to be a nuisance."
Well, apparently, he doesn't know the animal kingdom at all. Animals kill animals all the time, either for food or territory or disagreement. In some species, they make other species work for them. Also, studies have shown over and over that animals kept for domestication or captivity tend to live longer and healthier than those in the wild. If you release them in the wild, they will likely die. I have two ducks and they are totally dependent on me and if I dump them at a pond, they will not survive. But they get better treatment than ducks in the wild get. They get good food and clean water. They're protected from predators. The wild ducks don't get lucky.
Definitely no animals except humans should not be given "human rights" at all. Not even close.
That article... just plain nut.
Then there was that chimp that ripped off the face of that poor woman.
