Hello folks,

I received e-mail about new Space 1999 megaset release in July from "TV Shows on DVD" web site. On Amazon.com, I was ordered a copy of Space 1999 megaset under $100 but I noticed that it did not mention closed caption...

I checked A&E TV web site and it did not mention closed caption. I had e-mailed them about that and asked them to consider to add closed caption to that new release at affordable cost. Next day, I received a reply. They said that they does not offer closed caption on on-air movies or shows execpt History/Autobiography channel. That made me so mad!!

Do not buy any DVD on-air movies/shows from A&E home video.

Should I file complaint with FCC aganist A&E, etc?

Thanks,
Tim

Thanks for replies but...

Well, where is that law requres DVD and similar formats (Blu-Ray and HD-DVD) to have closed caption or subtitled?! That is only problem that Congress missed - perhaps loophole or so. There are a few video distributors like A&E, Lionsgate, and Echobridge. They take that advantage by not offering closed captions when they only produces DVDs.

Also, UFO Megaset does not have closed caption neither...

"Lost of the Land" season boxset does not have closed caption but... Rhino Video owns that and sells DVDs directly and should provide closed caption or subtitled. So I can file complaint aganist Rhino.

Thanks,
Tim

Maybe good idea to write your Congress that you required to add Closed Captioned on Space 1999 because of this film made in British TV so it was not provide closed captioned on DVD TV series. Urgent you speak out to your Congress to U.S. President then contact with British Prime Minister should speak with British Federal Communication and Closed Captioned Law for all media DVD applies all formats for Region 1 and Region 2 and all regions.
