An earthquake is very very rare around here ... but this is the 3rd or 4th one in the past 3 years or so.

So did you people run around like crazy thinking it was end of world?

I didn't feel it but a lot of people were freaking out on FB. One guy posted "That wasn't an earthquake it was my valentine!!"

there seem a pattern all over the world there are places that never used to get it, are getting it in the last 2-3 years...chilling...

It was felt as far south as Macon, Georgia too. They even felt it in Midtown Atlanta.

It was the Brevard Fault.

The last earthquake IL had was a 5.3, and was a few years back. That one was felt quite a ways away, too. When it hit here, it was a 4.2

I guess in this area those 4. something are oretty normal. But i know in some other places might not be so nice.

I don't feel anything here in California

If you guys would be so kind as to take your earthquakes back there (and those up North, please come and take your ice/snow storms too).

What's next? The Plague? Locusts? Famine?

Sorry, Stein. Too much snow here already. That what you have now is yours to keep. We have bigger things to worry about-- like a completely frozen lake.

Don't jynx it :P there was some kind of movie on tv the other night about locusts :P

Sorry I sure don't want any earthquakes any time soon. I've been in way too many. Nice feeling to know your home can take a 7.1 quake with very little damage.

Hope everyone is okay... 4.1 is a moderate in size. Here is a chart in Earthquake size scale:

funny saying 'outstanding' or extraordinary its like being too nice to nature's fury....would replace "shocking from the rocking of the Earth" and "Terrifying as biblical Hell has raised from the grounds"

just my rant to 'the way too neutral tone from an inaccurate selection of words'

This is video of Japan's 9.0 quake tall buildings swaying.
