The URL you gave us, their translation of ASL of the FCC ruling and the concept is inaccurate. I do not recommend people to consider this ASL translation official for FCC.

You are right, I just found out he's a Sorenson puppet.

Who? Ken Davis?

Who else owns that site? I had an interesting conversation with him last night that led me to this conclusion.

took me 1 and half month to get vp... They will make you wait longer to make sure that you have DSL and high speed internet

They will not contact with you if you don't have those.. or u didn't take upload test they will not contact you...

If you already did, contact them again and bug them!

Then youre mighty lucky!

Take a peek at this post in a different thread http://www.alldeaf.com/showpost.php?p=237847&postcount=48

Pay attention to Paragraph 2.A. of the agreement linked in that post.

Quote #Two

Ding - there is NO paper to get the user to sign. Therefore your quote #2 is not accurate.

Ding dong - the user or installer will click "I Accept" button on VP100 start up is all they have to do in order to use the Sorenson VP and refer and read theo the 7-page agreement on the web site ( http://www.sorensonvrs.com/media/VP100_agreement.pdf )

So you PAY ATTENTION. :nana:

Clicking "I ACCEPT" is legally the same as signing a paper. Technically it's still accurate. So dont sign anything with Sorenson unless you fully understand the conditions.

R~

Not quite. There are exacterbating conditions that make the acceptance possibly less than legal.

First off, the installer has spent some time in your home already. They had to set up the TV and the videophone, and possibly even configure your router. Now, to stop at the "I Agree" screen at this point would be just silly. The installer wants to get paid, so they'll explain that it's no big deal and nothing bad is in there anywhere. Of course, you'll find that out LATER.

Right on, you hit the nail. Did you know that Sorenson renamed the installer to trainer? So, it is more accurate. Much education needs to be done on the end user. Usually, trainer will show the "Dial VRS" button and enter the voice number. User will ask what are the other VRS numbers. At that point, the user will realize single provider and decide from there. No problemo with FCC's "informed consent"

So, it is either now or later when the user really realizes.

BTW, it takes only one minute to config' the router for many installations.

Looks like we all are beating the same dead horse to even more deader.

I think the horse is quite alive and well, with the debate still kicking. Until everyone gets what they want or the FCC settles it for us, Sorenson's approach to controlling our communication will cause some people to feel one way or another.

No, I didn't know they were now designated "trainers" vs. installers. I guess the name doesn't mean much as long as they're subcontractors or hourly employees.

Do all installers for all companies really understand the FCC orders?

Its the same thing as a "Janitor" be renamed to "Environmental Sanitation & Hygenic Specialist"

I got two Sorenson VP-100, the first one I wait for only 4 days after apply for one! Second one took me only 2 weeks to get that! I then apply though www.C-S-D.org for Dlink DVC-1000 and got within 3 weeks. Also WWW.Hamiltonvrs.com and got another Dlink DVC-1000 in mail within 3 weeks. If you all want faster in getting one and KNOW HOW to install, HAMILTON is BEST! Hamilton don't require to send an installer UNLESS you ask for. If you want to know how much $ I paid for Dlink DVC-1000... the answer is ZERO dollars and Zero cent!

I am just wondering how come you guys ever use an iChat AV or small video camera on top of your monitor? What's wrong with that? It seems that Sorenson is good idea, but it produces a lot of electricity to run your house - i.e. TV and the video, adaptors - , but it is not that big deal.

Here is an example of iSight if you have an Apple computer:

There are many web-cameras that avaliable for IBM PC computers. :)

Have you ACTUALLY seen the VP-100 or DVC-1000 though TV??? If not, I bet you once you see, you won't believe how far superior in video quality with these VP-100 or DVC-1000! Can't beat webcam!!!
Believe me back then I was resisting in getting Sorenson VP-100 until good friend of mine convienced me, told me what I got to lose? I said none, alright go ahead order VP instead of replacing webcam, and at the moment I first used VRS though VP-100, :jaw: That is it! Im already fall in love with it.

I got mine withing 3 weeks and got it on holloween nite. :Ohno:

That's right DHB!!! We all do fall in love with Sorenson vp-100. I fell in love after I saw my friend had one and was talking to my best friend in NY. Boy I rushed home and applied for it. :D Glad I did.

We applied for Sorenson and got it in 4 days...by mistake! The guy picked our name and came within 4 days..we were puzzled...should be on waiting list but he picked us from bottom not on the top of the list...he made mistake but too late... And we have 2nd one but it is out of order...waiting for new one...still waiting almost 4 or 5 months...

We also have two D-links...we got it fast...I can't remember how long. I use either Sorenson or Dlink one. If wanna real private, use the Dlink...

it is HELL worth it! I love it...easy to go on relay and explained what I wanted or needed...I'll say maybe 3-4 times a week to use Relay.

I've heard some of my friend waited for long time...from 3 months to 1 year. I believe they are 'freeze' for giving out the free VP right now but I can be wrong. A friend told me...but I'll ask her again because her boyfriend work with VP (CAD) and heard about Sorenson.
