Sorenson related for a deaf not Deaf (ASL) person

I see no reason why VP cannot be captioned. In fact, I think using the people who used to do Sorenson Relay for this function would be a good use of resources. I think it would broaden the amount of people who use VP.

I have Sorenson VP, but it's mostly gathering dust. I would use it a lot more if it had caption.

It may be considered "old tech" by many here but I still like the TTY - State Relay combination for a landline. I got my first TTY through the State of Illinois when they first started offering them at no cost to those with certification that they need them. What I still use is the landline cord comes in to the TTY, then another short phone cord goes from the TTY to a regular phone (which can be used as would any voice phones by visitors). I always use VCO which allows me to speak for myself but have the CA type what the other person says for me to read on the TTY. The relay center is reached by simply dialing 711 to start a call be it you calling out or someone calling you.

I do not like the idea of IP relay for me because all I can find is text relay and I want to voice my side of the conversation! I do not sign so video phone is not something I am looking at.

Skype dont have the caption?

If you can speak clearly on phone then CaptionCall is perfect choice. Other than that, I don't know the answer.

Skype isn't captioned if it is just called by a phone. I didn't understand they didn't have a cell phone that could do video calling when I suggested it.

The last time I looked Caption Call was for outgoing calls only. No one can use it to call you unless things have changed very, very recently.

One of the CapTel services can handle either incoming or outgoing calls.

? Where do you get information that this is for outgoing calls only?

I know CaptionCall, and I have seen HOH using them without any issue. It is kinda cool really.

Sorry. I was going by memory and got different services mixed up. There was one for cell phones that was only outgoing and I thought I remembered this as their name.
