We have come to a better understanding about Solid Snake in the next MGS adventure on the Playstation 3...
okay, we know that Snake in MGS and MGS2 is a "clone" of the orginal Solid Snake aka Big Boss (from prequel of MGS3), right? well, as we see here in this new game, as it takes several years after MGS2, we noticed that Snake looks completely different now...he looks older, have gray hair, a mustache and even some kind of mechical eyepatch on his left eye.
now, I said before, he is a "clone" of the orginal Solid Snake...doesn't mean he's completely identical to the real one. The genetic enigeering causes Snake to age faster than anyone else in the games. as Snake isn't just getting older, he's actually very sick and tired as well, even though he's still stubborn and tough to fight some more in the battlefield against the russians...lol. remember the scene we seen in the trailer when he was coughing like crazy, then he immediately inject some kind of needle into his neck so his illness won't get worse. He's cloned, he's old, and he's possibly dying, too. in real life, clones wouldn't live as long as real people do, for that matter.
and as for the "eyepatch" on his left eye...he didn't really lose his left eye. He just uses it as some kind of special device that allows him to check out a radarlike map and scan objects and enemies just much like Samus can do those kind of things in GameCube's Metroid Prime.
So, now I understand it's still the same guy from MGS and MGS2, yet I know he's a clone of the orginal Snake aka Big Boss, but he's not really human, and he's aging faster, getting sicker, weaker, and all, but he's still up onto his feet as an legendary soilder to fight for our freedom and justice. that's our solid snake!
