So what does your Audiologist charge you for?

I have thought that too! But I haven't solved that problem yet.

It would be nice if we have a special-made molds where we can just pour the mixture in and cook the molds in the Mattel's Thing Maker. :)

Hummm, it should not be all that hard to make a laser mapping program that can "scan" the dimensions of the ear using a small wand and submit that to a company that can "print" a 3 dimensional mold. All of the technology is already on the market. I am going to look around a bit and see what's available.

it may be possible but our ears change as we get older. I know if I get a blister on the cartilage of my outer ear that leaves scar tissue, it will leave an imprint on the new cast mold which ensure the next ear mold will fit perfectly despite new portruding scar tissue.

True. In my little world where everything works perfectly we would have this little wand at home and would simply scan in a new image each time we want a new ear mold made for us. Heck, if I am going to dream... we should be able to "print" out a new ear mold ourselves.

:hmm:

My audi lets me come in and doesn't charge me for visits (he just prefers I make an appointment) but hes always been good to me. I'm charged $2500 for one aid and $200 for the mold (I wear a RIC with the mold that has a built in speaker so I'm getting double the power I suppose.)

You're asking a professional to invest maybe two+ hours of time carefully reading, thinking, typing, proofreading, and polishing responses to this, for no money, and for only a very small chance of impressing you enough to get you to call and make an appointment, because who knows how many other people you sent this to. I would question the judgment of an audiologist who would take the time to give you a good answer. It seems to me that having the skill to answer you in a way that would impress you enough to get you to call is not particularly related to the skill to get you properly fitted. A good answer might be more indicative of a skilled salesperson and a good writer than a skilled audiologist.
