So much for a fancy title

What do you find hard to believe? That I don't care if a hearing person signs?

Or that I don't care to communicate with someone who doesn't share my interests?

It doesn't really have that much to do with hearing or deaf, signing or not.

I have seen the electronic captioning devices being used in a row right in front of me in my local theater. They are pretty awesome actually.

And yeah, it might sound sad to say that the deaf and hearing don't have much in common, but for the most part, it is true. We experience the world in entirely different ways. The culture is different as well. It's not as extreme as an American going to Iraq or something, but definitely different, and we happen to live maybe next door to each other instead of across an ocean.

The reality behind the situation Killerpout is that it will just probably never be done. The hearing world is the standard. The hearing people don't have to make an effort to fit into the "norm". While a lot of them are bastards because they can be very bad to deaf people, that aside, they live in a hearing world. The deaf are the ones who if they so choose (and many do) have to try to fit into the hearing world; and a lot don't care also. They are proud of who they are and that is how the deaf community came about. If you read about Abbe de l'epee, Laurent Clerc, Gallaudet, etc. etc. You can learn about just how hard it has been for the deaf to get where and the struggle to get there.
You are right in the fact that the Deaf community and culture is awesome. It is always a good thing to learn about other people and cultures throughout the world to better understand one another, but most of the world does not take advantage of this opportunity. We live in the age of technology where a little device in your pocket can attach you to infinite knowledge of everything. The tragedy is that I think we live in the age with the dumbest people...

I hate the glasses. They are uncomfortable for me and I have to hold them with my hands, which I can't do because I have nerve damage in my hands. It's so frustrating to wear two pairs of glasses at once time, and the caption glasses are heavy and press on my nose right where the bone ends. Try pressing with your finger on that spot and keep on pressing for 2 hours. Just a few minutes of pressure there is really uncomfortable. I wish they'd do it the way they do in the UK. They have captions running on a gizmo underneath the movie screen. It's open captioned, they don't have to caption every copy of the movie that is out, they just send the captions separately, and people don't have to mess around with glasses that are often broken or in use when you get there.

Also, things like the music store people giving dhh people a weird look when they ask about music has nothing to do with accomodations.

Yikes! Okay bare with me I have a learning disability and not everything I say or type will come off how I want it to so again sorry if I was offensive that is the last thing I want to do.

You are not, you are funny actually :)

"bare" mean naked, what you wrote basically came out as "undress with me" :D

You got learning disability, I got it. sometimes it create funny sentences

like a famous motto of "dyslexics of the world, untie! " ;)

(instead of "unite")

LOL sorry it happens. Sometimes what I think isn't always how I type it or speak it. I hope it doesn't happen when I sign it to because I realized in class instead of signing nice to meet you I signed nice to divorce you lol. Let's hope it stops there.

Let's hope not!! I think you would be -are -a very funny stand up comedian! :)

Dyslexia makes YOU, and what makes you makes you unique!
It's a gift, in a way. you can make it a gift.

Ever seen this documentary?
Journey Into Dyslexia (TV Movie 2011) - IMDb

If not, please, please see it. I cried, sobbed when I watched it. It's so moving!

And very informative, that's most important.

This man, Willard Wigan, severely abused by a stupid ignorant teacher,
I suspect to this day suffers scars from the trauma she caused him.
Willard Wigan

And he is simply a genius sculptor, whose hand shook a future king of England himself.

I hope Mr Willard's teacher had the guts to apologize to him. The only excuse she has for not doing so - is - she's dead.
I forgot her name but in the show he does mention it.

But there is many other successful people in this docu, Erin Brocovich for one. It's wonderful to discover that some people just learn with different
half of their brain, is all.

Actually, oops, I shouldn't have said "disability' - it's not 'disability' - it's just a different way to learn, is all.
You get there, too, just not the same way I do - is all.
But isn't it like with most thing in life?
