So, its started.

Aww sweetheart, lots of hugs. I hope your CI testing goes well.

Wish you a lot of luck !
I can't be into your shoes, but it seems terrible to have to decide such a surgery ! I took 3 months to decide for my BAHA, and BAHA needs only an hour surgery :-O

Giulia- It's not THAT terrible. As a person with a completely dead left ear since I was four years old, being able to have the option to hear again is actually a wonderful thing. The surgery and initial recovery period, IMO, is worth it considering it's an FDA approved device that has helped thousands.

I'm considering my decision carefully, weighing all sorts of pros and cons including upcoming technology. I'm 99.9% certain I'll be going for a CI for my left ear within the next 6 months.

I'm lucky that I didn't have Meniere's disease on the level that candy does. I can't imagine how much of a pain that is to endure. I have, however, had the SEVERE debilitating vertigo that I have grown out of (thank goodness). I'd be bedridden for 2 weeks at a time multiple times per year during elementary school because my vertigo was so horrible.

Phi4ius is right about surgery. Having the sounds in my life over comes the concerns of having surgery.
The surgery isn't that bad at all, think of it as equilivent to drinking 3 bottles of wine!!! (my surgeon's words!!)
