and its killing me! actually, i ate very little meat this week and mostly ate pasta and sort other things. my stomach has been acting strangely, it bloated and gas kept bubbling all day long. it came from the pasta, breads and starch foods, the total of carb shit. sure, i had fruits/vegetable/salads but the gas foods beat into them, picked them up inside the bubble in my stomach. i know its only a week, my body might will get used to it in a couple of months. and i aint gonna do this anymore, never gonna be a veggie. im a meat-eater!

so, have you guys tried experiment with yourself to see how your body reacts to it and how you feel about it?

Used to be Semi-vegetarian but I gave up and start continue eat red meat. Just limited myself for amount of red meat monthly.

Researched on "Vegan", pure vegetarian but more risk for cause health problem like blood anemia.

Done thru experience for not eat red meat for about 2 years before finally eat hamburger. Next day, I got sick!!! Stomachache really kill me for 2 days. Happened around 1997, I was 24 at that time. *yuck*

My former neighbor's daughter lost lot of her beautiful hair due of not enough protein. I was puzzled and found out she was a teen and vegetarian wannabe. Sound like she was not eat right way about add more protein and etc..

"Veggie" is slang word for vegetarian. There are five different types of vegetarian. I copy and paste some information. Wanna more then check What is a Vegetarian?

1. Semi-Vegetarians Semi-vegetarians eat no red or white meat (beef, pork, venison, etc). The only animals that semi-vegetarians eat are fowl and fish. (Purists would say that semi-vegetarians are not vegetarians at all, but I have included them in order to show the complete hierarchy.)

2. Ovo-Lacto Vegetarians
The most common type, ovo-lacto vegetarians do not eat any animals, but do eat eggs and dairy products.
Subcategories:
* Ovo vegetarians (eat eggs but not dairy)
* Lacto vegetarians (eat dairy but not eggs)

3. Vegans
Vegans eat no animal products - no eggs, no dairy, no honey, etc.

4. Raw/Living Foodists
Raw or Living Foodists eat only raw food, because enzymes are destroyed by normal cooking processes.

5. Fruitarians
Fruitarians eat only fruit, fruit-like vegetables (e.g., tomatoes, cucumbers), and sometimes seeds and nuts.

As its for me, I eat "organic" foods, except for those cow/pig meats. I eat "seafood" where there's no blood or "antibotic/hormone" in meats like other REAL meats such as cow's or pig's. :)

LOL E, I don't blame ya!

I'm a meat-eater too :aw: , and I can't live on only veggles either...ewww :barf:

I used to be vegetarian, but since I liked meat -- decided to go semi-vegetarian instead. I ate mostly vegetables/fruits...had like 2 serves of chicken or fish a week. That went on for a year whereas I lost 95 pounds on my special diet that I created on my own.

But nowadays, I eat meat nearly every day. :P Can't live without meat,

<~~Meat Eater!

I love Veggies but, I cannot eat just that Only all the Time. I Need Meat! Making Dinner tonight.. *PotRoast, Potatoes/Hot Carrots and Salad*

I am meat-eater but I do love veggies because it helps me contuine with my health - if I dont eat any of veggies then I will end up thinner and lost weight. I need them and meat for red cells counts. :)

My dog will kill us if we stop eating meat! LOL! we love meat and veggies too so theres no way we would ever become vegetarians! Of course, we either bake, roast, smoke our meats mostly..very seldom fried..we use the BBQ grill in summer and its great for getting the fat out of the meats. We also have a smoker that we use to smoke turkey, chicken, cornish hens, pork loins etc..yummmmm! God made animals and sealife for us to eat! heh!

As a vegetarian of quite long standing myself, I think I can solve this problem for you. =)
The first is that any drastic change in diet sometimes does affect your body in a negative way. I know that if I started to eat meat now, my body would totally reject it, and I WOULD throw up. As Lasza experienced herself.

But your statements indicate that this is likely more than that. After all, you have eaten these foods before. My feeling is more strongly that you are not balancing your diet, and are eating things that you 'think' are appropriate for vegetarians. Over eating 'carbs' would give you a bloat, for sure.

If you are already eating a balanced diet, you should be able to simply substitute the meat with other high protein foods, with little difference to the rest of your diet or health. The problem is that most people don't really eat a balanced diet in the first place.
Check out the Vegetarian food pyramid, which is almost identical to the 'normal' food pyramid. You should be following this, as it will hopefully reduce the effects of a diet change.

Putting together the two things of a possible unbalanced diet, and of drastic change, you would likely get your symptoms quite easily. Most people eat too much meat in the first place, so suddenly 'shutting it off' would affect you. This is especially true if this is overcompensated with by eating more of a different food group, that gives you different nutrients.

Hope this helps!
As an after thought.. I think its actually quite funny to hear everyone call themselves 'meat-eaters' as if thats all they ate. Humans are omnivores, not carnivores. We need only small portions of meat (or protein). The focus on meat over other foods only highlights the health problems occurring because of over eating meats. (heart disease, obesity, etc etc).

Ohhhhh Noooooo

I'm meat eater!!!!

I need meat to match vegetables... It's too boring to taste only vegetables or salad without MEAT... ohhhh nooooo...

I eat white meats/fish 3 times a week... red meat once a month... (cook well).

I use combine diet sometimes (like on & off)

Fishes/Meat with vegetables/salad....= protein & neutral group
or
Potatoes with vegetables/salad = carb & neutral group

(it's not mean that I want to be diet but my figure should stay like this..)

You can lose of weight alot when you use combine diet all the time...
