I would say do whatever works well for you, although personally I never have slept with Has or CI on. However, just beware of one thing, you may get more ear infections if you are wearing your molds for longer periods. So maybe you should be really careful about keeping them clean?

Sorry about the lack of sleep. Tinnitus is also aggravated by stress so it sounds like there is a vicious circle. Give yourself time out, do exercise, give yourself regular treats (such as chocolate!), deep breathing and so on.

I don't sleep with my HA at night. It whistles too much and I don't like the slimy film the ear wax does to the earmold. However for short naps I do.

As for the tennitus, I get it too. I just take melatonin to get to sleep easier. Melatonin is a natural hormone that your body makes during the day, it uses it at night time to make you tired and sleepy. Works like a charm for me.

QUOTE=set2;682859]:eek3: A few days ago I was rudely awakened by an alarm. I thought the smoke alarm so I jumped out of bed sending my small dog flying off the bed. I raced into the livining room to get the remote to shut the alarm off. I kept pressing the power button to shut the alarm off and I suddenly realized it was not the smoke alarm. Fortunately it was a false alarm, so I go back into the bed room and I realize it is my Alarm clock. My alarm clock is barely audible to me at the highest setting so I am now wondering why I heard it. Well, It turns out I had fallen alseep wearing the hearing aid in my better ear. I then had a horrible feeling that I had lost the other hearing aid when I had to go throw up in the middle of the night, luckily it was in a safe place.[/QUOTE]

Reson not to wear HA to bed!

The last post was quoted from a post I made almost a year ago. I now make sure the HA and CI is off,LOL.

First of all I've heard you shouldn't wear you HAs to sleep because eventually you will have too much moisture in your ear due to lack of air and this may result in ear infections, mostly of fungal nature. If you have to, wear on one ear only and alternate every night.

Secondly:

Have you ever been to neurologist to see about your headaches? what you describe- tinnitus and bad headaches - may be a symptom of migraine. Migraine is a neurological disorder, not psychological or psychiatric but stres may act as a TRIGGER meaning it will set of the pain episodes.
Seeying how you are now lacking sleep either from pain or studying, and this tinnitus- you are in a self- feeding circle of triggers.

I urge you to seek help with your headaches because there is help for it - why suffer? for starters, it's important to determine if you have tension or migraine headaches.

perhaps one of those waterfalls running on a table next to the bed might help. Or maybe one of those machines made to make white noise? (at least that's what I call it) I would think that you might be able to hear something like that close to your bed, i'm sur you could find one that sounds like the fan and you wouldn't get cold but still have the noise. :)

I do have one...i should start using it again! just sometimes it get's annoying and the waves are a good one i like that the best..just sometimes i feel in the morning i have to really pee cuz i sit in bed and listen to all the water falls and such lol...hate that having to go pee feeling! lol
Ya maybe i should see someone bout the headaches! good idea!..is a neurologist a hard person to see?

I don't sleep while my aids are on.. I prefer silence when sleeping

Talk to your regular doctor first. He/she might be able to help you. If not they should be able to recommend someone good for you.

It shouldn't be, you should talk to your family dr first, and get a referral.

No, I don't sleep with my HAs. My audiologist said sleeping with them is bad idea - they could get damaged, rub my ear, or start an infection. I have some tinnitus, but not bad. It is terrible with bad colds sometimes. Once I was so sick and the tinnitus was awful - I agree: hard to concentrate, hard to sleep. Maybe I wasn't familar, but I couldn't imagine the noises every day. I'm sorry you have having this problem, especially in classes and no sleep!

I get headaches with wearing HAs all day. In class the background noise makes problems. After today (bad day - :|) I'm not wearing HAs for class. I need to study, read carefully, and write carefully assignment papers and can't with headache. Bad mood, I guess. I need "attitude adjustment" - for my male roommate "attitude adjustment" means beers, but for me I think it means no HAs and no struggles for few days. Then beer. :D (joke!)

same here, I don't bother to remove it if I'm taking a nap but I find it painful to sleep on my bte and, of course, the whistling is really annoying. plus it is really unhealthy to not allow your ear some air at night, and I'm telling you this from my own personal experience. what Audiofuzzy said:

I had some major ear infections for about 8 years and finally had an operation, believe it's called a tympanomastoidectomy, in 2005 to remove a cyst in my ear. before that, in grade 10, i had to get 2 operations to get a BAHA (bone anchored hearing aid) that attached to the side of my head because my BTE wasn't letting my ear air out enough for the infections to cease. I suppose you're at a much lower risk of gaining that particular kind of infection if you've never had any ear infections before, but believe me it's not worth the risk. people need to clean their ear molds and take them out when they sleep!

as for the tinnitus, sorry i can't help you. Mine's not so bad that it deprives me of sleep... my thoughts are louder haha

P.S. I can sympathize with the midterms... ewaoiyq430t8ygf08y!#$@#$!^&

I take my hearing aid off when I go to bed. The reason for this is so that I don't accidentally break my hearing aid and I keep it from getting internal damage from moisture that might accumulate in my sleep depending on humidity. Sometimes, my ear hurts when I wake up because I had something in it all night and I slept on it.

I was going to suggest the same thing - a machine that make white noises or nature sounds.

I don't sleep with my hearing aids on. Once I fell asleep with them on. The cast-iron radiator went off loudly and it scared me badly.

lol k so def no ha on when i sleep lol...i put the white noise maching (waterfalls on) last nite and it worked...still have to talk to someone tho about the headaches... my mom thinks they are tension headaches..

my mom thinks they are tension headaches..

but your mom is not doctor, is she? it is important to determine what kind of headaches one has because of different treatmenst used. good luck with the dr.

Ya I'm definitely going to see a dr. we are in the process of finding another family doctor but I can go see my boyfriends brother in law he's a dr. i go to him sometimes if i cant get an appt with my doctor..Ya i'm really prone to ear infections thats wat caused my hearing loss so im guessing no air ciculation would be a really bad idea...
Does anyone's ears hurt when they get cold?? mine do..maybe its just me?...lol

You know what - sometimes before I get migraine episode my ear hurts really bad. So bad a few times I went to the dr 'cos I was sure I have an infection but I haven't!
But during cold- no, not always, rarely, rather.
