SK vs BB vs 8525 vs TREO vs iPhone vs other devices

I think this is firsttime thread about Device v.s. other device. I hope this won't turn into flame topic/ threadjack. if this is flame topic, i will require Moderate lock this thread up.

SK really grown me out for 5 years. I switched from my sk to my fiancee's BB, because she dislike BB's complicate for her. that how she convinced me, she wanted switch her BB for my sk3. we did..

I just started to like BB more. What do I like about the BB? BB has supercool QWERTY keyboard, compact handeld, Improvest BB OS than other rim devices. it looks more sexy! I can customize the apps download on BB from internet without limit apps, I can modify fonts of abc size, Google/ Yahoo/ blackberry maps on BB, I can copy and paste it from internet BB that sk can't do that. I never say that There is BB better than SK, Neither there is SK better than BB. They both are hottie device!

SK is for newbies, beginners period.

About Treo< mmm, I have no idea nor expreince with treo. I think treo 750 is supercool, becasue I like treo's touchscreen, qwerty kneyboard, and MW5. Iphone is not my type, I am not huge fan of mac stuffs since I born to the world of dark ages.


tell me why you think your device is better than others?
 
I like my Sidekick II because it meets my needs.

It's simple and has all the applications that I need.

VAMP, Yeah sidekick is full package out of box as of basic concept, Compaq or eMachine is full package out of box. ;)
 
Is tero 750 the best overall? What about tmobile wing? I m looking for built in camera, internet, instint messagers and good monthly price.

my friend has tmobile Wing. it is very nice. it has WM6 which s more better than WM5. its processor 200 mhz is a slight problem which means that it runs the programs little bit slower than ur eyes blink. personally i have 8125 that has 200mhz processor and i know how to handle it so i m happy with it. i do overclock it to 240mhz. it runs better.

i dont know if u are patience with the speed. if u have 8525, then it is great ! if u have 750 then that is great.

i hope HTC Kaiser is coming up to at&t.
 
I have the Treo and I don't like that I had to download IM. sk already has the IM and you can leave it on. You can't leave the IM on the Treo as it will drain the battery.

I'm waiting for my contract to end so I can go back to the SK.

Does blackberry have IM already on it?

what o/s(operating system) does your treo have ? there are two different types of treo that have different o/s.

we have some posts talking about different IM programs on different mobiles somewhere in threads. you can try to google yourself on that if u like.

Treo p is little longer than Treo W for battery life. I try many different IM programs and some of them are bad and some of them are drain battery life. So finally I am happy with Mundu and it's work perfect.

I take Treo because I need Google maps, modem to laptop, video, M$ Word,Excel, PDF, play mp4 from dvd with subtitle (enjoy to watch when I am on fly or train),multi IM, high speed internet,touch on the LCD (much faster than click on the button), SD slot from digital camera. Too many in my mind.

Jason already showed me on his Treo 650 from last year. It's pretty cool. Almost year later you told me same thing again. I just think about that but gmail don't support IMAP.
 
yea i love push emails ! it does save the batterys life!

It's too bad you put so much energy and focus on materialistic things when you should spend more of your time and energy to be a better father!

I got BB8700, but I would like to buy BB with camera, which model #?

terp, Yeah, T-mobile blackberry have IM already on it! it called OZ. but IM use TXT MSG charge on your bill. Because its not running on data plan. but Perhap, you read another thread about jivetalk as Multi-IM clients, or others use on data plan without charge like OZ.

I were you, I wont go back to the sk period.

I would like to point out that IMAP is not push mail
...BUT...
Push mail do USE IMAP protocl to poll and determine if there any new email or if the email had be read or trashed on another device or computer.

Push mail and IMAP are 2 different things.

Push Mail is a polling protocol which when a email arrives to an IMAP server it polls with your device to see if it active then push the email to your phone or computer without needing your computer to have to check if any email etc which make it look like the server *pushes* email to your phone or comptuer. Push mail do use IMAP protocol.

and

IMAP allows you to keep the email on server and any computer or phone or web site polls the email via IMAP protocol to see if you have already read or delete or replied those emails.


POP3 example -

You download pop3 email to your laptop and read it then you go home to your desktop computer but the email will not download to your desktop computer because you already downloaded it to your laptop.
-OR-
You change setting in email for POP3 *not* to delete from server but you download it to your laptop and read it then you go home to your desktop computer and it will download the same copy email but your desktop computer will think it still *NEW* email you haven't read yet but you did so on laptop. Also if you delete your email on your desktop computer, it will not follow and delete email on your laptop so you will have to go each device and delete email from each devices.



Now IMAP example -
If you use IMAP then you download IMAP email to your laptop and you read email but IMAP will record that you read email then you go home and it will download same copy email to your desktop computer and it will not be "new" cuz you already read it on laptop at your school etc. If delete some old email on your laptop then you go home desktop computer IMAP will also be same as your laptop delete those emails too.

Basically you can go to any computer and it will all be match same emails same which old or which new emails and same which trash or junk or email folder will all be same. Even if you go visit your email website will match too.

IMAP is nice cuz I have several computer around places and I can example delete email from my phone and it will remove email from all my other computer match my phone list emails.

There are IMAP contact list and calander too so all is update match your appointment on phone and your laptop or home computer.

Example - IMAP Contact list - You meet new deaf friend at gathering and then you ask new friend address and phone number and you add it in your PDA phone etc then when you go home and check your desktop computer IMAP already put it on your desktop computer contact list copied from your phone for you.

Or another example - IMAP Calander list - I add my doctor appointment on my desktop computer time and date to remind me then it will automatically send to my pda phone via IMAP and it will beep on my phone like 6 hour before my appt remind me about doctor appt. I don't need to add it to my phone since IMAP already copied my desktop computer appt or contact list to my phone and laptop and my office computers etc.

I hope I am providing some assist sharing knowledge with you all but if I am incorrect or wrong in any of those please do correct me and point out where I am wrong so I know to be correct next time. Thank you!
