Signature Images?

It doesn't really matter, but remember... if it's small, it looks better and simple.

If you look at the advertising banner on top, it's 470 x 60. If you look at the 711 banner, it's 85 x 85. If you check out the avatars in LiveJournal, you'll see people using small and simple images... but seem to look smooth cuz they're small.

I've seen people who use so much animated pictures on their webpage that it scares everyone away. They use animated images as their cursor, animated background images that's purplish, animated avatars and banners that's horribly colored, and to top it all off... they use blue fonts. Now, that's HORRIBLE design.
 
I would like to thank many of you for your patience. You may have noticed that I didn't enforce it much in the past, but that was out of kindness due to members wanting us to bend the rules a little.

The rules states that images be under 50 KB. Some members would start using images that were 52 KB, then 59 KB, then 65 KB... you figure out the rest. Some members would have two image, but each image was only 5 KB each... totaling to 10 KB. Suddenly, other members had to compete and use 3 images, 4 images, 5 images... you figure out the rest. Other members would have 2 images, but make them bigger and bigger.

Lastly, members seem to get carried away with Tickers. I'm seeing Tickers for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Wedding, Birthday, etc... often multiple Tickers in one post. Seriously, we don't need to announce Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Halloween at the same time. Having a Halloween Ticker is good enough until October 31st, a Thanksgiving Ticker after that until Thanksgiving Day, then a Christmas Ticker after that until Christmas Day. That isn't too much to ask for. If you have a Ticker for something that will happen in a few days or weeks, it's better to use that over a Ticker that's for something that will happen in a few months or years.

Lastly, one thing that would really make a lot of things easier is using a Randomizer. I'm already using my server for several members' randomizers. Using a randomizer requires using a personal server and free-servers don't provide that. If you are using multiple images that you hardly ever change, feel free to PM me with the URL to the image you want to use. I will add that to a randomizer that I have or will create for you. All you have to do is use one URL that will never change for everything else changes within... automatically.

Ask several members, like Cheri. She's used my randomizer before. Whenever she wants an URL removed from the list, she PMs me. Whenever she wants to add an URL to the list, she PMs me. Other than that, the URL in her signature never changes because it's already going through all the URLs that's randomized in the file. :)
 
no im still piss off cuz that was the best sig IMO that cookie monster set up for me, and to me i think its more than just a sig plm theres more to it than meets the eye....

and shiva... SHHH ok ??? i made my objection its a public right ... and conforming to email system was better than just like PMing then ingoring other people who don't want those... to me its an easy way out... a s a moderator ( and an adminstrator to my other forum) I use BOTH to communicate with my members NOT just use the PM system for the sheer hell out of it.. if he doesnt have the time to do both then,... whats the point in being the moderator? my 2 cent :)

Yeah, I've noticed small images looked alot better and more attractive ( smooth & easier ) with its animated rather than large images. Very true.

Next time, I will try my best to make it less than 50 KB.

Thanks for correctin' my signature image at my request. :)
 
Yes, its problem with gif. image because create images with gif are over limit... that's why I has to choose jpg image with less kb. to create for signuature here.


I would love to have this for my signuature


but it's too high kb for this forum... 66kb per pumpkin... :(

LOL! Yes, that's true. Just like what I have right now I am using Vampy's randomizer. :P

That is AWESOME !!! That is so cute pumpkins with your name letters. I love this. Try to ask Vamp if he could reduce your kb size.

I already did. Read my reply to her post. :)

What I did was merge all 8 images into one image, then shrunk it to make it simple.

No. That's 8 images. You can only have 1 image. If you can merge all of them together into one image, that would be fine.

Vampy, Looks like some members here have not follow your rules applied about using one image on signature, I've seen a few members here have more than one images. ;)
