Sign Snarlisms!

How about this simple 4-letter word?

'Navy'

Go on, do it ten times fast!

The navy fingerspelling trick hurt a bit, Eyeth. :(

What is your sign for "power"? I didn't get an indication of any aches from signing "improving power," but that could be attributed to the strength in my arms and elbows.

And you will be flattered to hear that your word "snarlism" came up in a recent conversation between an AD reader and me a few days ago! :)

I used the 'B' handshape, starting at my wrist, created an 'arc'-like motion towards my elbow, to represent 'improving'. Still using the 'B' handshape, I then moved the same hand to my shoulder, made the same arcing motion towards my elbow, to represent 'power'. Some people are 'premature' when it comes to signing 'improving', where they'll cut off the arc into the mid-area of the arm. Lazy bums! :) Anyway, doing it really fast like 10 times, will feel like you're 'kung-fu'-ing your elbow! :P

It's out in the wild! Along with the infamous Nintendinitis and other similar repetitive stress injuries, hospitals now must brace for the inevitable onslaught of jammed wrists, ASL elbows, and bent fingers!

Huh. I was thinking of another variation of "improve." It's the one where you take ascending baby steps to indicate gradual progress. Why did I think of this one? Blame it on my English-like mind. The word 'improving' implies that it is in progressive tense, so I thought of signing it in ascending baby steps to match its action. ;)

Everyone, for your snarlism-induced injuries, send your medical bills to Eyeth from now on!
