*timidly* Isn't it the 5 interlinking rings?
This is why I mentioned this is the Canadian sign of the Olympics.
Olympics is signed differently- localized and lexicalized.
Some countries have their signs and some fingerspell. I am quite curious about this and will google up the signs.
Yep.
In my part of town, it's similar to yours, but it's repeated three times with the links being more rounded out...almost like the F-handshape.
Fascinating! This why I have told hubby I will not travel overseas until I finish travelling all over my own country and see all of Canada's signs. It is very beautiful.
Can someone describe the sign more thoroughly? I know it's the five links, but is it the F handshape, 8 handshape? Signing the 5 links seems like it would take forever so I'm wondering if there's a shortcut version.
His localised signs still appear here and there; just lucky to have lived in Ohio and picked up the signs enough to know what he meant.
Our sign now as far as I know for Olympics is rings connecting, bit like yours but they connect. Hope you know what I mean
The one Mrs. Buckets used is found in the Canadian ASL dictionary; it might also be in a few American ones as well since I recongize the same signs used by our friends to the south. If you know your handshapes, there is about 4 or 5 different handshapes for the "F" sign alone. She uses the FLAT-F handshape. Basically what she did in the video was have two FLAT-F handshapes meet each others and twist them twice while mouthing "OLYMPIC."
I use the 8 hand shape link three times for Olympics.
