SideKick I & II Versus Motorola A630

that Motorola A630 is similar to that Motorola P935/x2000 that had black n white screen, it was a old 2 way pager back in late 90's to early 2000. The A630 has tons of new features that the old P935/x2000 didn't have, anyways. I played around with a A630, and it was cool and really small, kinda hard for me to type on that keyboard with my big fingers. :)

Yes, A630 has a small keyboard which is harder for people who have big fingers for typing, but perfect for the "Munchkins" (I'm a small frame with small fingers), like me. LOL

I only care about the battery life and reliability; so I won't have to just go, "Oh, I have to recharge it again...too short already..." Of course, SK is still very good, but itself has 2.5 days' battery life? My husband has to recharge it every time - it just annoys him a teeny weeny bit, because he really needs it all the time due to between his job and me, of course. :)

What I did with my SK, I use automobile charger to charge my SK on my way to work and back home which is only 15 minutes each way. No hassles with charger at home. Works like a charm.

Right, we do use auto recharger, too - it helps, although, just that it requires to be on at all times, due to my hubby's job. He likes it, but rather to have less hassles with having to keep on recharging too much, so he won't have to keep his employer waiting for his responses too long. :)

If your SK works so well for you, then that's great! :D

Questions for any Motorola A630 users

Hi,

I am thinking about getting Motorola A630. Could any of you who uses this device tell me if it has its own email address like xxxx@tmail.com that SK2 uses? if yes, what's the email address domain name? Will it vibrate every time when a new email arrive? Will it also vibrate every time when it receives AOL Instant Message?

Thanks...

Does the A630 have option to where you can use IP Relay or Terminal Client or something like that? The A630 looks pretty good..thinking about it as well..but have to factors stuff in. Im a current Sk1 color who so desperately need to make a switch..my fone is about to disintegrate.

Hahaha I love that new handle for Wyndsucker!

Wynd is notorious on breaking contracts, and refused to take responsiblity for the problems with pagers!!! They are good at screwing up their customers. Believe it or not they broke contract with me, and I WARNED them to abide the orignal agreement. I got plently of excuses from Wynd. During that time I got Better Business Bureau involved. I gave Wynd two hard choices, abide the contract or that the contract is permenantly invalid. They chose give me excuses. Game is OVER for them with me! After that I declared that contract is nullified and voided and I owe them NOTHING. I warned them that it is three times harder to find new customer than to retain old customers. They don't believe me, and guess what? Im getting the last laugh because Wynd is in brink of losing all of Wynd customers! (4 years ago they had 28,000 customers. Now less than 1,500 customers.).

Yup, I wouldn't use Wyndsteal for various reasons either! Someone informed me that SK1 is physically stronger than SK2, but SK2 has more options and features.

Now, that looks like a ogo clone.

Not sure, but if they DO have AIM, then there is IP relay though AIM. That is one possiblity without going though the Internet browser.

I rather stick with my SKII. :thumb:

I don't really know much difference between those two. I have heard some negative comments about the Motorola though. :dunno:

hmm...I just thought of something..since the phone has java enabled...any one of you (computer guru's) think it is possible to simply go to the phones web browser and then go to www.ip-relay.com and make a relay call there on the web? IP-relay is based on java...any possibilities?

you can turn A630's bluetooth on to make as dial-up modem. Connect to laptop via bluetooth. It's pretty slow since it doesn't have EDGE. It use GPRS is more like average 11 kbps download and 8 kbps upload.

I have Nokia 6620. It has fancy bluetooth and EDGE. I test on my Powerbook 12". It goes like 113 kbps download and 98 kbps upload. that's fastest than I had experience with old sidekick. Which I am satisfactory with EDGE since I can make real-time communication on AIM as I notice on sidekick that appear horrible delay of time on the communication. I was confused what were talk about. lol.

What wonderful I can do is.. go on travel .. anywhere! I brought it under Cingular with unlimited Media net for $19.99 plus voice blah blah.

Also what about the bluetooth in the A630 being compatible with hearing aids and CL that include bluetooth?

I have sidekick2 but it does not have bluetooth. I dont even have a blue tooth hearing aid anyway but just a thought.

Ehh..didn't see your post until now...dang, ha. I no longer live in Australia -- but it would've been great news for the deaf community out there if the SK was released there. Only the Blackberry's been released there about 6 months ago. Treo 600 and 650 has been around Australia for like a couple years.
