My first hearing aid was something similar to that brick. It was 'loaner aid" from the hearing aid place. until I got a Beltone? Zenith? body aid.
 
No I haven't seen the brick HA before ,my first HA was a Zenith body aid and is was rather big .
 
actually I think this hearing aid is Phillips, if I recalled it correctly.
 
Mine looked something like a geiger counter. No handle, or gauges, but with old style headphones.
