I am just curious what all you guy have, if you have one.

I am more look for MORE Colorful and quality television. I do not care about the sound.

So I am just curious what brand you guy have and what positive and negative about that product that model?

I have Vizio Plasma. I have it because Walmart sold it really low priced.

But it has great picture and I love it.

My only regret is it isn't bigger as it is only 32 inch.

I have 46 inches Samsung LCD, bought it 4 months ago, it is really rock. Good picture quality, (sound is an amazing) so yeah, it is about 1,000 dollars

you don't care sound, it is lifetime but very careful screen can dead on 50,000 to 60,000 hours lamp life, use 6 hours every day, mean 27 years, if 14 hours about 13 years, Plasma can't repair, LCD with CCFL, can repair/replace lamp, some thin LCD without CCFL, can't repair

Best:
- Resolution: 1920 x 1080
- Response Time: 5ms or less
- Contrast Ratio: 5000 or high

Now, we have 4 HDTV sets (3 at home and 1 at son's college). Also, I gave one Samsung HDTV to my parents as earlier X-mas gift.

My personal, I like Plasma over LCD because rich color and excellent movie.
We have 2 Panasonic (from Circuit City and Boscov), 1 Sony (from Circuit City) and 1 Insight (from Best Buy).

In 2004, my first LCD HDTV was Westinghouse (without built-in HD turner). I dislike it because seperate HDTV Box. Returned then bought Panasonic Plasma with built in Digital tuner.

They have good and bad about LCD HDTV.
LCD HDTV is excellent lower energy but not excellent black tone. If, you love to watch movie something like Alien, Ghost Ride at night sence, Transformer at night, other movies at night sences. Still poor to see images at night sences.

Most important adjust to make less back light (lamp) as last longer better than full bright back light.

If, you choice Plasma HDTV. Most important to make less bright light to prevent burn-in. Never pause and walk away for few minutes.

For me not important to have highest resolution. Nobody can tell 720 vs 1080 at 6 feet away from HDTV.

Forget to add....

Most important, you play with Digital CC before you buy HDTV. All brands are not same CC style. Do not afraid to ask sales person to set up regular TV or hook up with DVD player for test CC before pick right one for you.

samsung for the win :D

I'm glad you like Samsung. In my office, I have a samsung LCD 19 inch TV (I think of the size is right) and it's great. Closed captioning is eh eh OK.

I FIRST bought my FIRST LCD TV a couple of years ago. It was (and still is) Sony 40 inch. Man...I just LOVE that TV. Beautiful crisp colors, when I play DVD through component..man it rocks!! Beautiful! We then bought a Samsung 23 or 22 inch TV for the bedroom. We had it for 2 weeks. The closed captioning sucked...choppy and the color of blackness was REALLY hard to see. For example...if a man was in a closet, you should be able to see him if he had black clothes on in a tan or a dark Grey closet right? Well..this Samsung just faded everything into black, couldn't see for sh*t on it. Wife was SCREAMING in my ears (I'm hard of hearing by the way and she's deaf..she can SCREAM lol) about the lousy CC and stuff. Took that Samsung TV back and replaced and paid the difference for a better Sony model of 22 or 23 inch. Ahhhh good ol' Sony. Crisp colors...great closed captioning...great everything. Guess Sony has won me for life.

Altho I do want to mention that I have Haire lcd 19 inch for my VP. Pictures pretty good. Tried it on using cable/tv...picture sucked. So it's a "throw away" tv for the VP. Pictures good for VP...but nothing else so..

Guess if you want BEST..you pay more...you cant afford BEST then get middle best. You get what you pay for is what I believe.

Just my 2 cents :)

we bought sony bravia 52" lcd hdtv and loved it but a warning to users of vizio 26 inch hdtv please do not use it and take it back because it had been recalled for serious defect that can overheat and catches fire!

Top-line 46" Sony Bravia 1080p 120 hz hdtv,

bought it for $2,700. My advice is to not buy cheap hdtv's because you know once you spend something expensive which it is worth it due to upcoming new technology including 3D movies, and video games. My Sony tv qualify for this - no question about that. :D

Wow, I didn't expect that not friendly advise or suggest.. heheh..

It amazing to hear all your feedback.. I am more favor with Samsung because of their quality movie on DVD player in past when I had it.

About the cheap price, I don't see the point about price because I went best buy.. and SAW how thin it is right now.. I could say 2 to inches thick.. that brand is Samsung...

I was looking at Sanyo because it look right color to me... I don't know... man...

I think I am begin whine and my wife start wonder when my whine stop.. heh...

Sound like I want perfect... but no... I don't want see half bleed out when I saw another day in few past year ago... like one of say do not pause, which it isn't my favorite feature because DVR machine already have one and why do I need one for television.

I am more looking at 42 to 47 inches...

Since most of cable company being caption from their machine, I have no problem with that as long I AM HAPPY.

I am looking at it but... as my fear is how long it going last.. 13 years? I can buy another television in 5 to 10 years later...

I don't know what else can I say because it... TOO MANY TELEVISION ON WALL!

So it not friendly anymore as it is easy to notice my prefer and my feature need.

I am more interest texture, color, sharp and comfortable.. not... pixel or square...

any way I can research instead talk with sale because they can pressure me to get that.. know what I am saying... Thanks for that feedback.. this is useful for us! :)

Please do not ask us for opinion. Everyone has different opinion. Everyone will scream you to buy "X" brand vs "Y" Brand

I will not click to see what you gave us link to Target, Best Buy and Wal-Suck. I will not pick brand for you. You need to check how is good CC, comfortable with menu, remote, etc

You need to do your homework to research at CNET, consumer reports magazine and other way to find review from owner's experience. You need to understand what is different between 1080P and 1080i.

You will sit 6 feet away from TV. You still can't tell EDTV, 720 or 1080i or 1080P.

If, you will choice LCD. Will you happy with poor black tone?
If, you will choice Plasma. Will you whine about little high electric billing?

I will not go with Sanyo because no popular. My opinion that Samsung LCD is not excellent picture. My parents listen what my brother suggest to pick Samsung. I was not happy to buy Samsung LCD for my parents want Samsung. Few months, my mom admit me that she complain about Samsung LCD because too dark (not excellent black tone). My personal, I will go with Vizio Plasma or Samsung Plasma or Panasonic Plasma or LCD.

My family voted for Plamsa over LCD because of rich color and watch movie (excellent black tone) better than LCD.

Mod note:

Thread moved to proper location.

Last year I bought 37 inch LG HDTV with 1080P. It was great and I am very satisfied with it. :)

General information

Home Information Technology Services - HDTV Information

Flat-panel TVs - Four styles of HDTV - HDTV World - CNET.com

Most important to check HDTV before buy HDTV.

1) off-angle viewing - watch out - some poor LCD HDTV (if you are not sure what is off angle viewing then ask sales person at BestBuy)

2) black-level performance - watch out - most poor black level on LCD HDTV

3) built-in QAM digital TV tuners - without box (good for up to 50 channels from cable or DDS)

4) screen - glass or matte. Glass (Plasma) is not excellent for bright room with too many windows.

5) Closed Caption - all brands are not same quality (narrow or fad or fuzzy or sharp or etc)

6) I can't think to say

Just good luck for your shopping
