She was a very very warm and loving person. Bless her soul.

She used to date my brother. I have always liked her.

A very sad passing of a young and beautiful lady. Everyone at Western Oregon University, her alma mater, had something nice to say about Shelly. I understand she was a terrific role model in the Salem community.
 
Wow i remma her i used watch her from Tv in 1990's and sad that she has passed away.

I was talking to my wife last week about her. I had wondered why she was not returning to the new AG show and now I understand why.

OMG that's sad news! I really liked her and was so proud to see deaf person making waves on television.

I wonder if her death attributed to possible steroid use? She was so big and bulky. Steroids is known to really mess up vital organs.

Ya know what? I think the new Siren needs to drop that name and honor her memory by putting a plaque to memorialize her in whom we've all affectionately knew her as the one and only Siren.

I'm gonna go down to the official forum and see if I can post a request on that. If I find it, I'll link it here so the rest of ya can make your plea as well.
 
Such a sad day for an former American Gladiator to pass on... may Shelly be at peace at last but we wont forget what she did for AG years ago and more....
 
Oh man. I used to root for her on Gladiator way back in 90's. RIP, Shelley.
 
I got the info abt her death yesterday from a friend. I was like wow!! Couldnt believe shes really gone.. RIP Shelley Beattie

Born Deaf??? If my memory is correct, she became deaf when she was young and her speech is still clear. That is what I remember from the tv program that talked about her years ago. I am sorry about her death and wonder what caused her death as she is too young.

I got an email.. here what it said..

Word got around earlier in the week that
Shelley Beattie passed away at the age of 40,
cause of death not known.
In her short life, she accomplished the
following:

- nationally ranked female body builder

- professional participant in the early Gladiator
TV series (known as Siren)

- member of the all-female crew that competed in
the America's Cup preliminaries

- winning several strongfemale athletic contests

After she stepped down from competition, she
became a spokesperson for a vitamin supplements
manufacturer. And then she stepped out of public
spotlight.

i checked on www.legacy.com to see if i can find her but no actual obituary of her. then I checked on Ask.com Search Engine - Better Web Search and found her on wikipedia.org

it said that she died on feb 16th but is it accurate?? I wonder? hmm... Why wasnt this announced to the world like on tv or newspaper?? This doesnt make sense? hmm? Anyone know?

She was not born deaf. She became deaf at 3 yrs old due to Aspirin overdosing hence why her speech is clear.

I didnt see this thread sorry.. i guess i will have to get moderator to merge my thread with this thread. :(
