Sports help with adrenaline but part of it is it forces you to take deeper breaths. Two in the nose and one out the mouth (sort of like lamas breathing but slower and more intentional) is a scientifically backed way to calm the nervous system. Animals do it, too. I learned that from a Stanford Neuro Psychologist. Getting outside and scanning the horizon with your eyes can help, it is supposed to work on the trapped feeling and get us out of the "fight or flight" mode. Make a list of things you are grateful for; seeing a list of things that are going well can help remind us that is isn't all bad. ya know? Mindfulness is a powerful practice.
