Perpetual student -

When my daughter, who now has bilateral severe level hearing, finished h.s. in 2008, I started coursework for credentialing as a teacher of the deaf. Online for Anatomy & Phys was the worst course, and in class Counseling was my favorite. I advocate for what works best for my students. Attended oral school, which was an education in itself. My daughter was brought up in CA, through 3rd grade, where she experienced TC and Bi-Bi, both of which I felt were appropriate for her needs. My student teaching was with 2nd graders at an oral school; problem is, most of the rural kids I work with do not have CI's. So the teacher ed system needs to look at the individual needs, and not rely on one size fits all for d/hh students. I personally believe that all teachers should have special ed degrees. Off the soapbox. :cool2:
