Ok, Ive been in the market for a truck. Went and looked at a few already that were total rust buckets and junk, one 89F250 3/4 ton is nice for its age, with need of brakes and blinker fixed for $950 which is the best Ive found so far.

Anyways, I don't get people at all. I respond to ads stating Texts or Emails are best to communicate as I am deaf and cannot hear on the phone. Yet, the idiots keep calling... they email and I stress the fact of email/text but yet they call me. I don't answer the calls , so seriously, do some people not understand what Deaf means?

Welcome to the world of stupid people. I been asking myself the same question . I had told people on the phone I CAN'T hear them and the person will say "they can hear me just fine" And I had already said I am HOH . I guess you could tell them the only buy you can consider buying their truck is by using emails or texting . No emails or texting = no sales.

I deal with it all the time. I expressly write "no phone calls please, emails only" and without hesistation someone always writes back with a phone number. Over the years I've just decided - people are idiots.

Just thought of something! Could they be expecting you to text to that phone number???

No, they keep calling me and I don't answer, then they email saying I don't answer... duh! And Ill email back saying Im deaf and they email back saying, Is this the correct number, Ill try calling you again.... are they for real that stupid?

Welcome to the disabled life ;) And you wonder how disabled people can be so patient, they've been tested numerous times by idiots ha haha

It seems the ones that do that are. But you never know unless you try text.

I have no idea, but that's something I haven't thought of. I'll bet if I did though, they'd text "call me."

One advantage of having Bell Canada Telemessage service- clearly mentions to redial and leave a message which is "taped". I access it theough the Relay Service-711.
This is TTY/VCO.

aside: used since 1996.

Yes, they're really are that stupid . I will ask people to talk slower on the phone and they'll will start YELLING at me instead. I hate to talk to people I do not know on the phone. Tell the person your phone is . 1 800 I am deaf. I bet they'll try calling it too.

I get the same thing when I post ads. It's incredible -- I guess people don't read.

I'm trying to deal with this now with my medical insurance company. They literally brought me to tears with extreme frustration. My hubby was dealing with it at first. He is the most patient man on earth. After six weeks and over twenty phone calls, my patient hubby walks in and says F*** It, I can't deal with these people and he can hear.

I had a recruiter for some temp agency keep asking if she should call me on another phone since I was having trouble understanding her (didn't help that she had a strong accent). I kept saying it's not the phone but my hearing (think that was when I had a wax build up) and her accent. Needless to say, that job opportunity did not pan out and I'm not one bit sad about it.

It drives me nuts!
I even tell my parents (Who keep pressuring me to call people for follow ups for jobs) I CAN'T HEAR PEOPLE ON THE PHONE!
Them: Well, neither can I
Me: You're not HOH or deaf. I crank the volume up and I still can't hear. This is why I prefer e-mail or texting.
Them: You're going to have to learn.

Muggles.
Or when you ask the stranger who calls "Can you speak up? Talk slower?" The typical response? YELLS LOUDER or T a l k s R e a l l y S l o w l y.
Sometimes, people should use common sense. Or at least learn to read simple texts that say Please E-mail or Text NO PHONE CALLS* or just be respect of the persons request. When people find jobs... they obey the Hiring People's request... but when it comes to us? Nope, or barely.

Is it a private sale?

If so, did you look at it in person?

If yes, where is that truck at?

If it's at the owner's home, why didn't you go knock on the ****ing door?

If it's not at the owner's home, then I understand your ****ing frustration.

When placing ads, I usually say, "text only please, I have data only plan." Seems to work so far most of the time. Once or twice, I'll get "call me".

Come pick me up and give me a ****ing ride, eh?

Well, again he called and sent email,
He responds with yes I know what deaf is, my mom is 98 and wears hearing aids and still uses the phone...and on and on.
He knows Im relying on a ride from a friend to get there but my friend is working late all week, so after this ass's response, I told him forget about me coming and possibly buying it. He says he answered all my questions but he hasn't, actually been avoiding specific questions.... also tells me there are a lot of people looking at it, Yeah, LOOKING is the keyword because its still for sale and hasn't sold yet.
I ran all weekend looking at vehicles while I had the van, but now that my wife works all week I don't have a ride during the day, so CRAZYPAUL...get that wild hair out of your ass.
So far the best truck Ive found is the Ford, which im not fond of Fords, rather have a chevy, maybe a Toyota? Looking at 4x4 since our winters are bad out here and supposed to be a bad winter this year. Also having one vehicle isn't a good thing either.

Yeah, it's definitely like when I'm in Walmart. I'll be distracted or something while they're ringing me up and eventually turn around and see the total. I'll apologize and sign / say Sorry I'm deaf and all of the sudden you can SEE them talking much louder and V E R Y S L O W W W W W L L LL Y Y Y.... Yes, because talking to me louder and slower helps the fact that I can't hear you. Idiots.
