seaworld trainer killed

"A few years..."? Doesn't that indicate success rather than the impression the re-introduction failed? Who knows, eh?

Ocras are known to live around 40 to 60 years. From what I know, the female species live longer than the male, roughly around 60 to 80 years.

Keiko was around 26 or 27 when he died. It was pneumonia that did him in.

Ah, pneumonia. Is that common amongst these animals or do you think it is related to their having been in captivity and then released back into the wild?

Good question. I don't have the answer to that one.

I believe he died a few years after being reintroduced to the wild.
Yes, he did. Animals, even in the wild, don't live forever. There were no guarantees.

I do.. Since while be held in captivity, they are not exposed to certain diseases. Therefore they do not build a good immune system.

They are also given all kinds of medications and such while in captivity. Which is another reason why it possibly did not have a strong immune system.

Makes sense to me.

You can take any animals and train it to do tricks.
But, you can not take certain wild instincts away from them.

Which is why we always tell our children to not mess with dogs while they are eating.

Never know when they will turn on their owners or trainers. It may have been a playful behavior to the orca. But a deadly one.

why do you think they are called KILLER whales? they aren't 100% friendly.

The whale did nothing wrong! It is a wild animal be kept in cage the way too small for it! The whale was only meant to be use for breeding and not a show whale! The whale had no idea the woman could NOT breath underwater when it was on top of her! The woman was messing around with an animal
that been breeding with other whales and the whale could had thought he had to breed with woman too! She was wearing a wet suit and looked like a small whale! This whale belong in the open sea and not in a small pool!
I would never go to Sea World or any other show that use whale , seals , etc. And why should a wild animal be friendly!! I feel bad for the whale as it
does not a say in what being done it . The woman can speak for herself and the whale can only act like a whale and when ot does people call it a Bad whale! I bet anyone on this post would want to try get free if they were kept in a cage! Would that made you bad! If any one is the blame for this women death it is the people the hire her and the fools that go to see whales act like pets and the woman it the blame for her own death for messing around with an animal that size!

This is off-topic a bit, but what about zoos? I saw a miserable-looking elephant with a foot shackled to the cement floor and it made me feel so sad...

That's just not right.

Imagine living your life contained in a bathtub!

That is what these tanks are to the orcas!

People want to pay to see whales! Plenty of boats to take you to see them off the coast!

Only way I see keeping a whale in captivity to be ok. Is.. If they are making a rescue effort then release them!

It seems that some people and organizations value animals above humans.

yeah I know, but I don't agree with it. I love animals and don't want to kill it if it can be helped. What if the animal is fighting for it's freedom?

They will resume the shows with Tilikum performing tomorrow at the Shamu stadium (Sea World)

The stipulation is that the trainers can not go in the water with the whales. Until the investigation is over and changes made.

Saw it on
