And guess what? Canada too is under UK. I am not sure about Australia and I think they are, JClarke may know the correct answer.

Nope, I had tour in Quebec city, and their fort in Montreal. They fought for independence and lost with blood.

But Quebec is independence under province of Canada? French speaking is 80%.

Yup! French speaking providence, boy! what an adventure up there, I inept with French, never forget how I interacted with them especially friend of mine car transmission broke down in middle of nowhere and there isn't any English speaking residents around. LOL!

Just only in Quebec. All the other provinces like Ontario speak both English and French so whenever French speaking people come to visit or live in any other province instead of Quebec. We have to do French for them. It is like the same for Spanish people who live in USA. So some states have both English and Spanish like California,Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and Colorado.

I used to study French (not oral, but reading and writing) in high school but got rusty not remembering any French words except just few French words that I knew.

EDIT: I believe there are some English speaking who live in Quebec so they can speak both languages, too.

Canada and Australia are independent countries which are commonwealths of the UK. The Queen is a figurehead of both countries much like she is in the UK.

Yes, that could make me pretty much anything, but I am English, in my heart and in my soul.
We fought the Argentines over the Falklands Islands because they, as British Citizens requested our help. Being Shot At by their closest neighbours might have had somethnig to do with it... I would hope that all you people of the USA - being a largely USA-based forum - would help Alaska, or Hawaii in a similar time.
But I was proud that our soldiers, sailors and airmen went to the defence of a tiny collection of islands hardly worth fighting for.
I feel that the Falklands Conflict really was the last gasp of the once Mighty British Empire, before we rolled over and did what the UN and the USA wanted us to do, and in spite of all the dead and wounded - and I count a few personal friends amongst them - I feel that it was worth it.
And thanks to the Reagan Govt for letting us use Ascension Island for our Bombers.

There is a huge difference between the Hawaiian Islands , Alaska and the Falkland Islands. The Hawaiian Islands and Alaska are actually states in the US, whereas the Falklands are just a territory of the UK.
