Scientist trying to end deafness

I don't see anything that backed your claim. But please do point them out if you feel otherwise.

Remember the "wishy washy" comment I said when it comes to this? And yet some would want to take a pill if it gave them full hearing. Some won't. Some were not sure if they would.

Once there is a cure for deafness means that people could now have a choice and decide whether to keep their hearing loss or improve it.

oh of course you're bound to find all kinds of resistance. In case you didn't know - that's perfectly normal on any issues. So are you able to find out what my stance is regarding cure for deafness?

I have no idea.

yes I do remember but I do not remember anybody saying that they do not support the cure for deafness. Care to refresh my memory such as..... pointing out a specific post? just 1?

great! :grouphug:

perform a search in that threads I provided for you and you can see what my stance is. In fact - in that thread that I linked, I answered your question - the same question that you're asking me now. :)

I take it that you don't remember at all?

That's an issue that is up to each personal decision but the question is how will society treat those who remain deaf. That's the big issue because society wont be kind. I know that you probably dont care but many of us do.

With all these technology, stem cell research, cloning, many things...it is a possibility that in the future, about hundreds, perhaps thousands of years from now, deafness will be extinct, but when I say that, that doesn't mean COMPLETELY extinct...of course there still be some but will be "cured" for it eventually.

The point here is that the deaf culture will still exist for many years, but it may get smaller and smaller when technology with stem cell research, cloning, etc...gets so much more advanced than ever.

Think about it.

Do you support the cure for deafness? I certainly did not see anybody reply in such a manner with such specificity, especially coming from a Deaf person. Why would one say that and risk alienation and ire?

So because of that - you're assuming that they do not support it? Interesting.... Looks like I'll have to take your non-response answer to my very simple question as "no" that you cannot find anybody who said that they do not support the cure.

so kokonut - can you please give us a little more detail about your deaf program in mainstream school?

I'll just assume your answer from here on out on where you stand regarding the cure for deafness. Thank you.

smaller and smaller? I don't know about that but I think it will be more of hybrid form. We are already co-existing with deafies wearing CI/HA. We have already accepted them. I'm aware of some capital Deaf communities that do not welcome those but majority of the communities do welcome them with open arms.

to those nitpicking the OP for the whole "flordia" thing - you need to calm down. it was just a typo. if the OP said "flooreedah" then go ahead with the nitpicking.

Sorry Deaf/Blind I don't know about how they said it.
