SAN FRANCISCO - California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger broke his leg while skiing with his family Saturday morning in Sun Valley, Idaho, a spokesman said.

Schwarzenegger, 59, was taken to a hospital for X-rays and was discharged with a fracture to his right femur, said Adam Mendelsohn, the governor’s Deputy Chief of Staff for Communications.

He will have surgery to repair the bone when he returns to Los Angeles, Mendelsohn said. The governor remained at his Sun Valley home Saturday night and still planned to spend Christmas there.

No one else was involved in the accident, Mendelsohn said.

The fracture was the second medical problem the governor suffered in a year. He spent several hours at a University of California, Davis, hospital last December with a rapid heartbeat after coming down with a stomach flu.

The Sun Valley Resort, a favorite skiing destination for celebrities, includes a short ski trail named “Arnold’s Run” after Schwarzenegger. The trail is categorized as a black diamond, or most difficult, for its challenging terrain.

The name and level of difficulty of the trail the governor was skiing when his accident occurred were not released.

Oh boy! What a great Christmas present! I have skied and almost hit the tree! :lol: So haven't been back on the slope since early 90's! Miss it!
 
*ouch!* What a bummer for that to happen just before Christmas!

Good for him cuz I don't like him .. Arnold has a small brain who can't handle his job.

That's mean..just because u dont like people, it is good that accidents happen to them? That is bad karma..I wouldnt wish any harm on anyone even to the people I dont like.

That would be like saying 'if' another member here would say: "Good for 'you', that you're not able to log on in here, or sees that you have a health issue, etc., cuz a member doesn't like you. Tsk tsk--you can just as well leave your back door open and let 'karma' in. ;)




That's too bad for what happened, and with the holidays here too, although, being phyically fit, he should be able to recover and heal nicely. Just shows that as we get older, the limits one was able to feel comfortable acheiving lessens as the bones lose its vigorous strength.

If I skied, I would be smacking trees left and right, which I do when playing on a video game.

Actually it was the right thing to go skiing
left to right then go left right left right left right LOL

I recalled that I NEVER got any training when
I joined with a few deaf friends skiing for the first time.
They were the Ski Experts. Guess what ?
I was going to ask them questions about how to ski
BUT they were already GONE downhill too quickly !!
They were too busy with skiing
They thought that I already knew how to ski
but I did NOT !!

I was alone on high ski slope
then I went down very straight with
lots of speed the more straight the more speed
EEEK ! I still did NOT know how to ski and
I did NOT know how to stop or control the
speed at all........ so I had to force myself to
fall off and wait for the rescue squad member
to show up I finally asked the Squad guy questions
and questions how to ski !!!!

Then years later I finally went ski at Vail !!!
it was tough and challenging...
Guess what ? I was a Real Good Skiier at Vail
after only one hour lesson with a private tutor AND
No one else believed me that
it was my 2nd time skiing in my whole life !!!

Now I would like to go skiing at the Sun Valley !

who cares .... Arnie gets all the attention Wow .. me me me a broken leg boo hoo! What about the sick kids who are stuck at the hospital thru the holidays. The kids are not on the news either!

Yea Arnie and a shitload of other celebrities are placed on the top of the tier for news over us regular people. It should be the other way around but as long as the mass public show their interests in those celebrities, the media will continue to put anything that happens to them as breaking news.

In another thread, Britney Spear's divorce from Fed-Ex was breaking news on CNN. :sure:
