School Snow Day Mean No Meals For Some Kids

Oh wow, your rent is 51% but if you live in government housing so you supposed to pay no more than 30% monthly (HUD rule). For 30% - it supposed to be $225 per month.

Tried and failed. They won't change it, so I'm stuck with it, but if I do ever move, I shall search for a Section 8 voucher.

Parents enraged as schools stay open during dangerous storm | New York Post

This school stayed open in a bad storm so kids could get a hot meal. I am glad to see someone get this.
I read the story and it seems that the parents were angry about the schools staying open, and they were offended about the reason being hot meals for the kids.

Is it better to endanger the kids in bad-weather traffic just for the possible meals that they might not need? In this case, the parents didn't think so.

Have you filed a complaint with HUD? It can be worth trying.

I'm surprised about CHA didn't follow HUD formula.

Yeah, about that part.... only problem is, I do my bills with my banking mobile app, and it's kinda moot. I also pay cable and phone online, too, so those, too, are moot.
No, it's not moot. You can still use your mobile services. Just keep record of the money on a slip of paper that you keep in each envelope. You can make them virtual dollars. If you get experienced at your budget you can create digital files for your budget instead of real envelopes but sometimes the hands-on reality helps you establish the concept of budgeting better.

That's a good suggestion. I just may try that.

Ready To Cut The Cable TV Cord? Here's How To Do It - Forbes

Cable TV is rip off. Use Netflix for just $9 a monthly and use HD antenna for TV and it's FREE channels. If you switch to Netflix then you saved $80 per monthly.

I agree. Netflix will keep you out of trouble just the same. It includes TV shows AND movies just like cable. What more could you ask for??

I am pretty much in your situation too. I have to budget my food and bills. I knew I couldn't afford cable so I went with Netflix option and I couldn't be happier.

:ty: This is a big help. I'll be bookmarking this site.

Your welcome.

Satellite TV (DirecTV or Dish Network) is cheaper but I don't know if your property owner allows you to install it.

If you live in rural area so you are allowed to install satellite TV.

It's not allowed. Plus, this area is mainly covered by AT&T and Comcast, as I see their equipment around the area quite often. I very rarely see the more fancier stuff this far north, but my Dad and stepmom has it.

Hmm. If I ever figure out when my cable contract expires, then I'll consider other options. For now, I have to keep paying or end up paying an early termination fee, which I do NOT want to be doing.

Do your area have at&t u-verse?

Do you mean cable and Internet as one bill? If so, then yes, it does. Two of my housemates have the same thing-- cable and WiFi included.

No, at&t u-verse can offer with TV only or internet only, or both.

at&t u-verse uses fiber optic - that's NOT WiFi.

You're talking about the cable box being wired to the AT&T box itself, aren't you? I've seen this happen here, because we have one here, but if I were to switch, the problem would be wiring, because I live/sleep in the front of the house, on the 2nd floor, and the box is at the back of the house, close to ground level, and installing that wouldn't come cheap.
