I met someone in Yahoo chat during the last month and talked a bit about what we liked to do. The person claimed to be a deaf single woman who liked to travel. At first, she claimed to be in New York and said that she was going to Africa. Recently, she said that she had reached Africa and had a bunch of money orders that she wanted to cash. She claimed that the banks said those money orders could only be cashed in America and that they told her to get someone to do that for her.

So she asked me to do that. I asked why not use credit to travel back to America and pay off that trip with the money from the money orders? She said she didn't have any cash and that they didn't have credit in Africa. Yeah right, I'm sure countries like Egypt and South Africa would have such things.

I think what she was trying to do was to get me to give her personal details like bank account numbers so she could empty them. I knew she was a scammer the instant she asked me to do this money transfer thing due to problems with doing it in Africa because those Nigerian scams are well known.

Those scammers seem to forget the most basic details about you. This one asked me more than once if I was deaf. A different one asked me many time if I was male or female. Both of those scammers used buddy icons of hot young ladies, which won't be likely for people stuck in Africa.

Here, I am encoding the name of the scammer so they won't see themselves in Google.

The name in yahoo: oravgn gubzcfba
The username: oravgn05_ubarl

The encoding is a simple 13-letter rotation.

In hotmail I just click the 'report phishing' icon and it forwards the email to MSN to deal with it. I also notice I get somewhat fewer scam mails. For every one dealth with it seems like I get two more in place.

This time, pretend to fall in the trap by giving them some fake numbers or FBI information? Likewise they would get caught by getting fooled once again ;)

Agreed.

I'd say, Over the years we've all seen how the scams happens, so and on. No matter how many times we've all been warned and advised of the scams - There will always be some one that easily falls for the scams.
