Sc Teacher Speaking Out, Moving Forward After Biting Alleged Attacker’s Tongue Off

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. — A South Carolina woman who bit off her attacker’s tongue during a sexual assault last Friday says she is grateful for the support she’s been receiving from friends and strangers, WCSC reported.

The high school art teacher was attacked in her home.

“I told my mom today that I saw the worst in humanity and then I saw the most compassionate, supportive, amazing, generous part of humanity in the exact same day,” Paige Duvall said.

Duvall spoke out for the first time on Thursday night.

The 33-year-old said she hasn’t returned to her home since the Oct. 16 assault, when a teen armed with a knife broke into Duvall’s home, tackled her to the floor and punched her several times.

Duvall told investigators when the teen put his tongue into her mouth, she “bit his tongue as hard as she could until she heard it snap.”

Investigators say the teen, later identified as 16-year-old Antoine Miller, was arrested when his mother called 911 due to her son “not having a tongue and needing medical assistance.”

Duvall said she’s “definitely” going to come back to her home, but she doesn’t know when.

Even though this happened almost a year ago, lessons to be learned here. I have told my daughter if she is ever attacked and the guy forces her to put whatever part of his body into her mouth, bite it off, and then run, taking the body part with her so the guy can be identified. He will be in so much pain and bleeding so badly, he won't be able to follow. If every woman who was attacked did the same thing we would probably have a lot less sexual assaults and we would also know who the attackers are.

but pain and peoples responses to it are so variable...add in what ever drug cocktail if any the attacker is on...(if cocaine and its been snorted the odds are very high that area of the body is already anesthetized, even rock would have a numbing affect tot hat area).

another very real possibility is when you bite someones tongue off the attacker only gets more enraged and will seriously harm you more...

if not kill you

Maybe it is where I am from that has jaded my view... but so many of the woman's self defense courses or those rape prevention things are ridiculous.... proper training is advisable...yet, men and women can take classes and will still freeze up when faced with a fight or flight situation.. more so in a life or death one.... or find that their training does not equate to a hill of beans...especially against an armed thug...
You have the right of it with the thinking of what ifs and the like...
Although I wonder... in SC and Georgia there is a line of self defense and maiming... I wonder if this would fall under the lines of maiming and result in being in legal trouble.

as ive often seen one off or even self defence "courses" teach women the wrong thing and give women a false sense of confidence as they get sent out to the wolves..

wendo is notorious for that..

if the info they get is all bullshit and often it is, the women are just playing tag and dress up..
