Authorities accuse a South Carolina man of letting a pit bull and five puppies starve and freeze to death in his backyard.

Multiple media outlets report Friday that 28-year-old Anthony Murphy of Spartanburg faces multiple charges, including unlicensed animal breeding, inhumane treatment of animals, and failure to dispose of dead animal bodies.

Police and animal control officers responding to a tip found the dogs Wednesday evening. Investigators said a combination of starvation and exposure to freezing temperatures killed the animals.

Murphy, who is deaf, told police through an interpreter the dogs were fine when he returned home from a trip Sunday night, but they were dead Monday when he went to feed them.
 
It was on the news about pets being outside in this cold front. This was a horrible thing to do! I'm hoping he'll be fined...."big time"....and not allowed to have any animal ever again.

It's been in the 20's here...and everytime I let my dog and cat out for 15-20 minutes to do their business, I bring them in and wrap them up in a blanket.

Feel so sorry for all the stray animals this year! Be careful when starting ur car, sometimes stray cats will be under the hood to keep warm! It's happened to me before.

We always wait at the door for our dogs to come back in. It was in the -20s this morning when we let them out and they basically ran out, did their thing, and ran back in.
 
That is so sad. I always feel terrible about this and it happens way too often.

We did just have a program here that if any neighbors were keeping dogs outside in this bitter cold you could call police and they and the rescue would come and confiscate them.
 
Yeah, I thank my lucky stars that I don't have to run outside, pull down my drawers and show my white arse to do my business!
 
that is so sad , I hope he gets the max punishment ( and that is not even a lot)
