Save your budget for living van?.. Ugh

I had enough moving when I was a child. I lived in 12 different places in several states (that I can remember) by the time I graduated from high school. We lived in some places less than a year. All but two were rentals. I attended 6 elementary schools, 1 junior high school, and 4 high schools. As an adult I lived in various military barracks, base housing, a mobile home, a log house, and apartments. We finally bought our first house in 1978, and our current house in 1990. I hope that I don't have to move again unless we have to move an assisted living situation (not any time soon). I don't mind visiting other places but I don't want to move again.

curious - does RV have climate control always on while people sleep?

yea about that - since it will be on while ya'all sleep... how is it powered? battery or engine?

Electricity hook up. If none, then by battery storage.

You can. You can run off the generator or off a campsite power hook up.

by running on generator - wouldn't that consume tons of gas? and isn't it very noisy for you hearies?

Hey Mr. Mountain guy, yes they do have climate control. Many ways to keep RV warm, even wood stove.

from where I sleep at cold mountain - my only climate control is a canteen of hot water inside my sleeping bag :aw:

Both

That's called Power inverter kicks from 12VDC to 120VAC.

Propane generators. Noisy but not as bad as gas powered generators.

hmmm ok. I've got much to learn about RV. I've never been in it. It's very fascinating to me.

This is a good thread. :)

Added bonus for you Deafies when it comes to camping. Including Reba cause she is senior citizen which also qualifies too. Free or deep discount on camp site. National park offers that for people with disabilities and senior citizen and it is called "Access pass", here in NYS same thing they got access pass. Can rent overnight campsite for just 2 bucks a night, hook ups no discount and paid separate.

I assume the mobile home was during your active duty years. Made me think of a foster aunt (really a cousin of my dad's who lost her mother at 2 and my grandparents raised her until she was old enough to be on her own between the time school was out and her dad got off work) who's husband was career Army Air Core (can't seem to spell that version of Core now) mechanic who turned down officer candidate school because he said it came with more headaches than advantages. Can't remember for sure if he stayed Army or went Air Force when the split came.

Some time in the 1950's they bought a mobile home to keep from having to find housing they liked at each different base. They were very happy with their choice especially compared to some of the on base married housing.

For semi-truck, The heater direct to semi truck's four batteries and alert driver when batteries got low voltage when engine was not running to avoid from won't start engine. Just start engine up to recharge batteries.

I installed/repaired "heater" for sleeper. The heater powered by batteries (cold air) and powered by fuel tank (diesel or gasoline) without running engine (hot air) are great system and better than HVAC powered by motor for save gas during sleep time.
