Santa's Silent Sleigh Visits Deaf Children - KGPE CBS47 Fresno - News, Sports & Weather for the Central Valley

It's a holiday tradition in Fresno... the Silent Sleigh came to town Wednesday morning.

About 200 deaf and hard of hearing children from around the Valley got to enjoy the rare opportunity to communicate with Santa and Mrs. Claus.

There was a parade, face painting and of course the special one-on-one time to visit with Santa.

One volunteer says the program helps deaf children develop social skills. Using sign language, Marlin Glen said, "It helps them learn socialization, you know to see peers and other deaf people, to meet new friends and socialize."

It's the 25th anniversary of Silent Sleigh, hosted by the Air National Guard.

I like the bold part. I am glad someone saw it that way.

Aw...so cool. I remember first signing Santa I ever see...age 12 so long past believe, but still think very cool.

I was an elf on Santa's sleigh in that same parade when I was a little girl.. Circa 1992, give or take a couple years. I have pictures somewhere. Went to Silent Sleigh every year with my mom and friends. :)
