Runner reported to have internal male sex organs

I think it is horrible that they have to publicize this. The press are so insensitive to a young successful Female athlete. So sad! :(

No wonder why she is in Hiding.

Yes , it is horrible that this out in the public! I wonder how the reporters that broke the story would feel if this was their child being publicize !

what's so horrible about having it out in public? what do you expect when you're competing in highly-publicized events? If you don't like it - don't compete. don't participate. you must always expect to have your hidden secret leaked out (in any way) if you're a public figure.

It's such a horrible situation. This may be devastating news to her. What if she hoped to have children one day? My heart goes out to this young woman.

she has no ovaries so......

The International Association of Athletics Federations, which ordered the gender tests, refused to confirm or deny the reports. In a statement, the IAAF said it is reviewing the test results and will issue a final decision in November.

How you know? They have not confirmed or denied it yet.

Either way... What do you want her to do? Jiro.

She is already ruined... by the press.

I hope she has enough strength to move forward with her life regardless.

oops. mea culpa! I misread it - "Two Australian newspapers reported Friday that gender tests show the world champion athlete has no ovaries or uterus and internal testes that produce large amounts of testosterone."

She's ruined by press? Doesn't look like it to me. She's strong-willed person because she has dealt with this throughout her life. I'm sure she can handle this like a fly.

She has a long road ahead of her.. Since the press release.. She is no where to be found. Degrading I may say.. She may overcome it she may not.

Anyways.. All men have testosterone and estrogen, as well as all women. regardless.

Jiro, I said Caster has three times the amount of a woman. Sounds like a lot but it's actually nothing compared to a man who produce about 20 times MORE!

She can't really be compared to men or women biologically speaking.

It is just as fair as someone born with an exceptional IQ competing in academic games.

that's different. academic games are gender-neutral. Both men and women can compete together on same team. You cannot in sports. It has separate category.
I have heard a discussion about boxing; that you can fight at higher weight classes, but not lower ones. Problem with applying that theory to this situation: there are only 2 classes. Comparable to having only heavyweights and lightweights in boxing. The comments about her not going to a medical clinic to figure out what is going on "down there" might be a simple matter of lack of money/insurance. Since she is a black citizen in South Africa, they were severely depressed people for generations. Might have cleaned out the family to have her checked out.

It seems like this whole thing is making it seem like it was her fault. Did she deserve to have such shocking and potentially devastating news like that publicized?

Still someone born with an exceptional ability competing against those who were not born with the same ability.

she has no ovaries so......

Presence of ovaries alone does not determine sex. If it did, women who have had their ovaries removed would cease to identified as female in gender.

would her case be consider as disability? I know that some people with disabilities are denied from entering all the time.
