Civil rights pioneer Rosa Parks has died, Local 4 has learned.

Parks, 92, reportedly died around 7 p.m. Monday at St. John Hospital on Detroit's east side.

Parks' refusal to give up her bus seat to a white man in Montgomery, Ala., in 1955 landed her in jail and sparked a bus boycott that is considered the start of the modern civil rights movement. The bus is on display at the Henry Ford Museum, Dearborn.

Parks, was born Feb. 4, 1913, in Tuskegee, Ala. She lived in Detroit.

I hope young people and future generations will remember her. I remember learning about her in elementary school. There's already someone who didn't care

In 1994, Rosa Parks was attacked and mugged in her Detroit home by Joseph Skipper. She had a total of $53 stolen from her. The incident created outrage throughout America after Parks admitted she had asked Skipper "Do you know who I am?" Before beating her, Skipper (an African American, himself) was reported to have stated he did know who Rosa Parks was but didn't care.

:( :tears:

He probably was a crackheaded...

Anyway... There will be a big special funeral for her...
Many Black people and other leaders and especially Bush
will show up and say their goodbye.

It would be nice if they show her funeral on tv...
I just watch it and say my goodbye.

Wow, I didnt even know she was still alive... :-o

That is really neat that she lived to be 92, and she lived a life where she was able to see times change for African Americans.

RIP Rosa Parks.
She was an  that did her part very well in changing the world through a defiant act at her own expense, and I am glad she got to see these changes and how she affected people before her death.

I think she also helped people of other colors, not just African Americans. She helped all Americans, regardless of color. I believe that she's capable of being anyone's heroine and IS a great role model for everyone.
