"Thing is, people seem to think the Nation of Islam only includes dark skinned people. They probably walk by the caucasion appearing members every day without being frightened in the least."

The reason I mentioned it was because of your above quote. Since you believe that "people seem to think the Nation of Islam only includes dark skinned people," then I thought that maybe that website could enlighten people.

Are you interested in actually learning about the Nation of Islam? Did you read the website and become enlightened?

I met a black Jewish person one time. Interesting conversation we had.

Reba, just out of curiosity, do you think Christianity can be condensed into a website?
The beliefs of any religion, including Christianity, can be given in a website.

The first thing I check out for any Christian organization on their website is their statement of faith.

The website for my church includes a statement of faith, "What we believe," the church's constitution, and what it means to be a Christian.

The Nation of Islam's website also has "What the Muslims believe."

Our experiences varied. Not going to discuss something so personal. Sorry.

Then stop bringing it up.

You continuously use this experience as a basis of rationale during debates. There is nothing wrong with using it as a rationale, but the fact that you will point so often to this seminal experience and then not discuss anything about it disqualifies it from debate. Keep it to yourself, entirely, if it is that important and sacred to you.

OMG...You mean there is more than one black Jew????

You two are pathetic.

Get over it and stop hating black because they are Jewish. You are the one that is pathetic.

Don't worry about it. It was a good experience. I was a summer camp counselor at a Jewish camp (Camp Airy for boys) after I had one semester at Gallaudet University and needed some summer work and earn some money. Met a black Jewish person there who was from New York. It was a pretty good summer experience. The guy tended be a jokester. One thing I was surprised at the end of my counseling work was the tips all the counselors got from the kids' parents as they came and picked them up.
Camps Airy & Louise: A Jewish Camping Tradition

It was also a memorable summer because it was during the heat wave that year when temps in the mountain did get to the upper 90s for a week which meant soggy bedsheets for all of us there. At the end of our summer camp work one of the leaders was polite and considerate enough to pull me out of a group photo shoot because the group of counselors and leaders were about to get doused with a couple of bucketful of water from above by a couple of pranksters while having their picture taken. They pulled me out ahead of time because they knew I wore an expensive hearing aid. I laughed when the whole thing transpired and watched the dousing.

Bye bye. Don't let the door hit you.

Interesting. I didn't know this. The guy in the TLC show married a Lebanese Muslim woman who gave up his 16 yr old beagle named Wrigley only because his wife/Islam said that dogs are unclean. Her father would not have been able to come over and worship. The husband ended up dropping his loyal dog off at the pound. This was seen in the last minute of one show.

:/

That poor dog... *shakes head*

You mentioned Nation of Islam specifically, so that's what I'm posting. They are a specific group.
