guess is depends if only if it HAS subtitles included in the broadcast! im getting a streamer, but not from 'digital channels' but from actual film files and download subtitles to match.......
OH
if you doing it 'my way'
what you need to do is, do a copy paste from film's film name , make is exactly the same, for the .srt or .sub files, that way the streamers will recongise it and play the subtitles files too while playing the film.......

thats the only thing i can say, i don't exactly what you mean because I will never use netflix, you tubes channels...thats just not me...

as far as I'm aware , for US streaming channels use, Roku is one of the best to get......Mede8er is a good one too and so is Dune.....

I like Roku best but sad no CC. I'm tried to figure out. Thank you Grummer!

it IS the best for 'hearing people'.......
if you were playing films from the USB or hard drive.....you need change film file names on your computer in widows to copy paste the exact file name but dont change the suffix...then plug it back in the roku, and player then press 'subtitles' on your remote........

but chances are it wont be streaming subtitles files from the 'online source' - i'd doubt it......

I am surprised that Roku does not have settings for CC. Apple TV has one. I hope that there is tweak in there that you could install CC.

Thank you Chevy57 so much.... I'm going to read it now.... Rock it roll!!
