RIM #1 Android #2 iPhone #3 in Smartphone Market

Yeah, There are 35-40 phones running the Android OS. There is 1 phone running iphone OS... And that 1 phone is only available through a single carrier... Seriously, I predict that ANDROID will takes RIM's place and pwn iphone without doubt.. :P

OH my, Apple now thinks courts are better than marketplace competition!

I use a Blackberry Curve and I am satisfied with it.

I have Blackberry 8330 and I hate it so much. It's slow load for google maps, poor camera picture, and awful browser. It's worse than Treo 700p, I missed Touchscreen so much. I have to wait till contract end this fall then replace it to HTC or iPhone 4G (if rumor is true). I won't back to BB again.

Same here, BB Tour won't show any major improvement but just minor.

BB is worse than phone with WM6.
 
I like the android, what gives with the battery constantly running low and to boot its #1? I have tmobile G1 completely happy with it except for the battery issue, constantly having to carry my charger in my purse and plug it in the nearest outlet. Anyone else here have G1 and experience the same thing?

The battery life in my Droid sucks so I have carry car charger or manage the apps to save the battery life.

Get Opera Mini

Google Maps:

Usually instantaneous for me. You're sure you're not interferences from the buildings around you? I get that in some parts of Vancouver.

Camera:

There's professional photographers and foodies that use a BlackBerry 8330, I think it's more that your photography sucks than the actual camera itself.

Opera Mini is out of range for BB version and still no improvement than BB Browser, in my preference.

Opera Mini is fine in Android and WM6.

I must have decent maps that meet my need for trip.

I means that you need check apps that use alot of batteries.

Go to Settings > About phone > Battery use

Some IM apps use alot of battery so watch out for them.

I got it now , thanks. I will have to reduce the brightness of my pager and other setting along the way. I need to turn off/on my aim not to use much energy. :ty:

I use Hi AIM right now and battery consumption seems improve but it was worse before until update fixed it.

I can't use official AIM anymore because of too many force close messages.
 
Linux RRRRUULLEESS!!! :rockon: So glad to see that Android surpassed iPhone. I knew it would be popular. Apple doesn't want to spread out their OS to different phone while Android spread out to many phones like crazy!!

Those who are using Blackberry, Good luck with weenie browser with limitation. Opera is slow updating their browser for BB. On Android phones, Android browser is powerful!! It even have browser tabs!! You can easily surf freely on Android browser than BB's.

I'm looking forward for OS 6 and Webkit Browser for Blackberry that is coming up soon. :)

It's great Linux is spreading out to cellphones/pagers. Who knows if there will be Android for Blackberry one day.
 
When I want to surf the web, I use a netbook, or a computer. My BB browser does a good enough job for me when I just need to check something quick. I use the BB primarily for email, not for surfing. It's a good combo. The 8330 is old! No wonder it's slow. A newer one is faster. Google maps works great! I've looked at the other phones, but they just don't do what I want as well as the BB does. YMMV.

You aren't alone. MY HD2's battery life sometime is SUCKS! it can runs for 12 hours or less.. Depend on thats what i use it all day or less.. However I sometime use XP1000 for emergency jump-start. its best battery management for all cellphone/ pda.. ;) http://www.xpalpower.com/ there you go..

I am glad you keep your faith in blackberry which better than me, lol.. For me, I lost my faith with blackberry. because RIM makes the same BB over and over without change.. RIM *NOW* obsess with Curve series and BOLD series than ever..

RIM still owe NTP $612.5 million, due Patent suit, therefore BlackBerry won’t last another FIVE YEARS.

SG- Don't be exciting about OS 6 and webkit browser. look back, RIm announced 5.0 OS will runs all. Unfortunately rim never did.. Blackberry curve and bold will become *DINOSAUR* in few years later.

Add a trackpad to a 2 year old BB = OMG, NEW PHONE !!! and Add a new theme to OS 5 = OMG NEW OS 6!! RIP RIM..


RIM had own patent OS platform for blackberry only. BB wont runs android OS at all..

Yeah, my first Blackberry was 7100v (the one with track wheel), which is still on original OS 3.8.0.128, after that I went on Sidekick 3 for 2 years and now to Blackberry Bold 9700.

To me, it is a big change from OS 3.8 and OS 5.0. I won't be going too excited for OS 6 and webkit browser, as it will takes time for RIM to release it.

There is big differences from Blackberry 7100v which runs on only 2 G, 32 mb of memory... where as Blackberry Bold 9700 have 2 G, 3 G and wifi etc and 256 mb of memory. (my first 3 G phone heh heh). :)
