Right-To-Die Bill Passes In California

Yeah, I know.....but the thing is there wasn't the screening/safety measures in place, so he was helping people with relatively mild issues kill themselves...
I have very little to no beef with say "six month to live" people opting for something like this.....but something that can be and IS easily treated....that just seems to be like letting a person with high blood pressure go.....I firmly believe there needs to be a safety net/safety measures. ......I know things are complex but still...if a person has a condition where if it's treated and they can have a good quality of life, they shouldn't kill themselves.

That is not up you to decide if a person can have a good quality of life you have no idea what else is going on in their life or what happen in their life . I know a guy that looked healthy when I was younger he was Holocaust survivor and committed suicide b/c he could no longer live with all the horror he seen and been through . He was reminded of every time he looked down at his arm and saw the ugly black numbers tattooed on his arm.

The people came to Kevorkian he didn't go to them , they wanted to die.
Some people had nothing wrong with them and came to Kevorkian according to this web site. My mom lived to be 93 yo and she didn't enjoy it. She was very tired of living and told a friend this . I told my mom if she wanted to dies it was OK to go and a nurse from hospice care told me that was very kind of me to tell my mom this instead of making her feel guilty about wanting to die . I don't understand why people have such a big fear of death.

Yes, they had depression, which IS generally treatable. That's the point. I mean I've seen whackadoodles scream and holler b/c they felt that doctors weren't treating their extremely low functioning (ie the kid was basicly in a persistant vegatative state) child "agrressively" enough to bring them back from say cardiac arrest or something...I've also seen people be SUPER aggrressive with saving their mom or dad who has end stage Alizheimer's, when it would make more sense for them to just let go......But depression IS generally treatable!

That is true that people who were depressed wanted to commit suicide and need to prevent death because they are not ill or sick. This is different when they are depressed instead of the patients who are very sick with terrible pain.

The people who were very seriously ill or sick and have no hope to recovered from the disease like cancer or any other serious diseases. They had to deal with very bad pain which the patient could not tolerate with morphine for pain. They want to die because of the pain which is hurting them so bad. If a doctor told them that they can only survive 6 months or less to a year, that would be a terrible thought that they would have to suffer the pain so much that they want to die right away. They can not stand the pain. I could not stand the pain, either.

If I have a living will and want to remove the devices to keep me alive and just die with dignity and peace with no pain. I would be happy.

I'm sure there will be. They aren't going to let someone who had a bad day get the drugs to kill themselves there will be guidelines as to what qualifications you need to end your life. However, if someone wants to kill themselves they can do it and have been doing it forever, it's called suicide and they don't need the states help to do it.

That is not my point , you don't have any idea what is causing the depression , the Holocaust survivor I posted about could had a taken truck load of antidepressants and it would not had erase the horror he relived all the time . BUT the cause of the depression is NOT treatable a lot of the time ! I was health aide and took of people with cancer , AIDS, HIV with open wounds down to their bones and treating their depression would not helped with their pains. Plus some just don't want to live a long life and will committed suicide .

Well in the home health aide job, it's clear what the source of the depression was.....I do think that we do try too hard to keep people with severe issues here.....But what I am talking about is pure depression....not nessarily depression as a result of extreme issues.

I had watched my husband going through pains so much with the help of morphine but it was getting worse and when he was dying, he cried with so much pain that it hurt him so bad. That is why he need someone to put him out of his pain and let him die with dignity.

He had suffered for so long with pain for years. He could not tolerate with pain like that. We did not have that "death with dignity" bill from the Canadian Government. He had no choice but suffered so much pain in the end. He did not have dignity and peace for himself to die with no pain in the first place. That is why I have compassion for his suffering with pain so much. I was helpless not be able put him out before he get worse with pain. :(

The animals at the animal hospitals were lucky to die in peace. The animals do suffered the pain. The Vet just gave them the injections to put them to sleep and they did not feel any pain before they died.

So maybe that is what we need to this to help us bypass this terrible pain with dignity and peace. This is a thought to show an example like this. :(
