Reverse Cookie Bite

Hi
I have reverse cookie bite hearing loss in both ears, my last testing showed my word recognition in my right ear had dropped down into the 30% range.
I have had an MRI done to rule out any tumors at the request of an ENT.
I have had both Starkey and Phonak HA's however have not been able to find anybody who has seen my type of hearing loss, let alone knows how to properly program the HA's that I have.. . unfortunately they just seem to know how to sell them to me. :(

I have never heard (act of expression) of reverse cookie bite hearing loss before in my life. That is the first. I assume you have mild hearing loss. Were you hearing before you lose your hearing like recently? **hmm**

Kinds of Hearing Losses

Mine is kinda if a reverse cookie bite as I have both low & high freq losses with better middle range hearing. I'm in the moderate to profound ranges with one ear being worse than the other.
One thing to consider is to find an audiologist who has the equipment to to R.E.M. (Real ear measurement) testing. The programming software may be giving you too much bass & the REM will show this & then the Audi can make the necessary adjustments.
 
I have the reverse cookies slope loss as well. Hearing aids didn't help so now I wear BAHAs. Maybe you could ask you Audi or went.

Loveblue, my hearing loss is quite kinda like yours as well! (highs are better, I suck at low frequencies.)
 
Cookie Bite Too

I am also a Cookie-Bite Hearing Loss! I am in the Myrtle Beach area and am trying to find a doctor/audiologist here. Can you suggest a specific type of hearing aid that you have had success with? I am finally leaving my "denial" stage and moving towards accepting the loss of my hearing. ~Jen

the BTE style is awesome and very comfy as well too! (if yours is bad enough, then go nuts for the ones that features all the stuff you might need)
 
I don't know what REVERSE COOKIE BITE IS BUT I BECAME HEARING IMPAIRED BECAUSE MY EARDRUMS SWELLED UP INSIDE I'VE NEVER BEEN DIAGNOSED AS TO WHY I NEED ALL INFO ON THIS PLEASE

Will you stop screaming with capital letters? Also I don't like the word "Hearing Impaired" as it is offend to the Deaf community and some Hard Of Hearing, too. Thanks. :cool2:
 
First off I don't mean to offend anyone second good morning third I don't know the language.I'm trying to get educated and find people who once could hear and now dealing with this life changing event.I was once a man who had confidence in himself now now I got to learn life all over again.

Well, you have lots to learn about deafness, Deaf Culture, hearing devices and learning how to go on deaf journey. You may even want to learn ASL if you are in USA or Canada. This will take time to get use or adapt to your hearing loss. Did you go to ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat) specialist? After this, maybe you will probably have to go to the audiologist to get hearing test for your audiogram (map of your slope of hearing loss) to see how much hearing loss you have.

The most important thing is you have to accept your deafness because you can not go back to being hearing.
 
Yes but I was in prison and since I been out I've gone to an audiologist because of SSI but none has told why I'm going deaf.
 
Take life with a grain of salt because you gain nothing from trying to challenge the fate. Fate always win. You can't change that! Just like once you go deaf, there is never going back to being a hearing person again.

I went deaf recently and I accept my fate. Actually, this is a gift to be deaf.
 
Indeed it is a blessing, as all things in life happens for a reason! Whether it may be bad or may it be good, inevitably; it was for a reason.

I don't know if you believe in God but as they say, he works in mysterious ways! People may not believe in him but no one can deny the fact that 'things' just happen to fall into place now.

One of my good and great friends has 'RCB'. For those who do not know what 'RCB' is, it effects the hearing of High and Low but not Mid range frequencies. This type of hearing condition is one of the rarest and one of the hardest to suit fit. To put this in perspective so you can have a general idea of how this type of condition works, it effects about 100 people out of 100 million says the General Health website.

Also, not many people know about 'RCB' as they will refer to it as 'HOH' so people will know what type of hearing condition/loss that they may have.
