Question, do deaf people capitalize the D in deaf? I've always learned I'm supposed to. But do you?
Depends on context. The big "D" deaf refers to people culturally deaf. So it is not appropriate for the medical concept of deafness. Or a person describing their hearing ie.. "I was always hard of hearing, but one morning I woke up deaf!"
That is they woke up unable to hear. They didn't wake up a part of Deaf culture, which is where the Deaf way of writing deaf belongs.
