Billiard cues, hockey sticks, golf clubs also to be allowed, NBC reports

The U.S. Transportation Security Administration will let airplane passengers carry small pocketknives and some previously prohibited sports equipment onto airplanes, The Associated Press and Bloomberg reported.

Knives less than 2.36 inches long and less than ½ inch at their widest points will be allowed by the TSA, NBC reported. Larger knives, those with locking blades, razor blades and box cutters will still be prohibited, the network said.

The TSA will now allow carry-on sports equipment such as billiard cues, ski poles, hockey sticks, lacrosse sticks and no more than two golf clubs, NBC reported.

The network said the relaxed rules go into effect April 25.

At least, it will save some lives by make hole on their hole to breathable.

Great! Now I don't have to remember about my tiny 2" Swiss Army knife or small Leatherman tool!

Isn't just lovely how quickly this country forgets the past? If it didn't happen yesterday, most Americans don't remember. On 9/11, three planes went down in a terrorist assault on this country all by men with box cutters. Would this knife they allow fit that description, I wonder? This is why no one should work for the TSA...they're idiots.....makes me want to take the train or drive instead.

Laura

Mine is 2 inches. :D

I bought it at a flea market and my ex said I would get in trouble for carrying a knife.

nonsense!

although... it depends on what kind of knife. mine's just a utility pocketknife - foldable. you?

I'm nervous about allowing knives on airplanes, even small knives.

but.... it won't happen again even if hijackers used knife because now cockpits are locked and reinforced.

Yeah right...I'm sure that's the only factor that caused the tragedy on 9/11 too. Just lock the doors and nothing bad will happen. Here's a better solution and you'll love this as it'll cut federal spending too - fire the morans behind this "great idea" and dismantle the TSA. Obviously if they're not capable of doing their job the military could do far better than the entire agency combined.....

I was just thinking the same thing, Laura. But then comes the question of, what kind of coward(s) let(s) a person take over a plane with a box-knife? So I mean... There are a lot of facets to it.

I think it's just fresh enough in peoples' minds that nobody will allow some a-hole with any kind of knife to repeat the past.

I always carry a pocket knife always. It was a tough learning curve to remember to not carry one for the flight. I had to use the mail out service(by way of TSA) for my favorite little knife- cost more than the knife did.
It makes zero sense to relax restrictions because they worked.

Cowards? What the hell? Box cutters are insanely dangerous. It's not a knife but a razor blade. Nobody on any of those planes knew they were going to crash into a freaking building. The passengers of flight 93 heard that the other planes flew into DC and NY so they downed that plane. I have no doubt the passengers of flights 11, 175, and 77 would have done the same if they knew what was about to happen.

Cowards? DAMN!

I know a coward when I see and smell one and I'm seeing and smelling one right now.
