Hi all,

I'm new to this site. I have an auditory processing condition that requires me to use assistive technology developed for the Deaf community--an Ubi-Duo, the text relay service, and so on.

I'm going to be starting a master's program in the summer, and I'm in the process of requesting accommodations. Specifically, I need to set up a remote captioning service for classes, workshops, and lectures during a once-a-year, eight-day residency. I've looked into the services provided by the Deaf Services Center of Baton Rouge, LA and by 20/20 Captioning. I haven't been able to find any reviews of these services, and I want to make sure that whatever service I choose, it's reliable.

Does anyone have any experience with these services? Or could you recommend any reliable remote captioning services that you know of?

Many thanks,
Rachel

Remote captioning service is still a pretty new service. I've had it once and the quality isn't too bad but I don't know about 20/20 Captioning.
I am rather confused why you are setting up the service when the university is required to handle that sort of stuff at no cost to you if you are dissabled.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

By "setting up," I mean that I'm trying to figure out the best provider so that the school sets up the best possible accommodations. I figure that the more information I give them about what I need, the better.

Best,
Rachel
