Regift Christmas Gifts and give to someone else????

My friends and I were talking about that today. My friend raised a good point..she said why waste the gift if someone else can make good use of it. Also, she said that it can brighten someone else's day so no harm. Either do that or just give it away.

She said that if u use a gift, find no need for it anymore and try to regift it, that is rude.

I have to agree with her on all points.

I have been lucky that the gifts I have gotten are the ones I can use.

It would be rude of the person that is giving the gift to expect the person to "like" and make them obligated to keep the gift. An intelligent person will know what the person likes in the first place.

I agree with rockdrummer that is why they print out extra gift reciept,

Thank you all for your comments. I appreciate your thoughts on this. :ty:

I gave an ornament full of kisses candies to show that i miss the kisses and him but the person gave it away to the family member. That show that the person doesnt care about my kisses or me. I know it sound tacky but like i said its a thought that count? i put everything in a box (was going to be a stocking but didnt find one that i liked) filled with cute gifts like kisses, spongebob candies, etc. the person gave it away but kept only one. jeez. I just know i wont give gifts to that person when the person told me this? :( its like that person dont appreciate my thoughts... i dont give shits anymore... whatever to that person.. :ugh3:

last years my mom give me clothes and i got argues with my mom! but i didnt asked for that and i told her i wanted rights clothes like pjs, clothes, coats, whatevers for me!

this years i open pjs and black vest and thankness godness for my mom but i dont argues with my mom AGAIN!

I'm always thankful for gifts, regardless of whether or not they're to my liking. With that said, I'd much rather find a new home for items that aren't "me." The thought of something collecting dust in storage hardly seems appreciative. I feel it is more respectful to discreetly donate or re-gift to someone who would truly appreciate the item in question.

Umm, many people gave me candies as gifts and I am not allowed to eat cuz those will bring my sugar higher. I do not share my health problems with people so I bring some of those candies to party or family function so they can eat them instead me eat them all and get myself sick. Also I have one beautiful gift, nice pajamas but it is too small for me so I do not know what to do with it. Keep it forever and never wear them?

I wish it works this way but no tag on it. Oh well but thanks for remind me. :) It is thought it is count.

that is why I take the easy way out and give a gift card to some store that they canuse to get what they want.

Thanks, it's just that I haven't seen or heard anyone ever gave someone else their gifts that they may not like.

The only thing I know is they usually go back to the store and exchange for something else.

:dunno:

ditto.. same here I wud go back to store and exchange but it is pain in azz when the gift I can't get refund meaning I have to get gift card if I want something else... :squint:

I don't think there's anything wrong with regift because you appreciate the thought that person put into the gift, but you don't like it, so why not give it to someone who'd like it.

But something you used and then give as gift, I'm leery on this. But give something used to goodwill or something's fine.

Maybe he doesn't like candy or doesn't want to gain weight or some other reaons and not because he doesn't care? I hope he cares and just didn't want the candy for another reason. :)

when he was with me we did eat york candies.. so obiviously he does like the candies? he ate pies for dessert so i know he do eat them... ha.. its just that he is rude .. plain as simple! sigh!

Yeah I would do the same to let the person know that it's too small as usually I always keep my receipts for gifts if too small or too big can get an exchange to right size or a different gift... smile... otherwise it'll be sitting in the closet forever and the person that got you the gift will think it fits ya...

I personally have gotten some bad gifts in the past, I simply thank the person for the gift, put in my back and then when I get up I stick in a box way up in the back corner of the top shelf in my closet. Years later when Im cleaning I'll run across it and get a kick out of it,

But as for re-gifting - I dont mind, but more often than not if I dont like the item I simply go 'try it on' then say it doesnt fit, is broken, etc. then I ask if they still have the store reciept so I can exchange for 'the right size' etc. Then I simply go and exchange it for something I like better. But also sometimes the giver really doesnt know their reciepient as well as they think they do, so often they try to come up with the cheapest item thats also the cheapest for them. If your'e one of these people then I HIGHLY recommend just getting them a gift card to their favorite store. You cant go wrong with the big brand stores like JC Penney, Goody's, Stage, American Eagle, or heck even Wal-Mart cards are good, 99% of the people I know go shopping regularly at WM. This way you can stay within your budget for this person but at the same time they get to pick something they like and its still from you.

Also if your'e still stuck on what to get for the person sit down and ask them specifically what they want for Christmas. Even if you cannot afford the item they want, you can still go in that same direction with something related that they would still like to have. Just dont try to get a gag gift as they may not get it as well as you do.
