Hi, old skool gamer here. I haven't played video games in forever and now I finally have some free time, I would like to buy PS2 and old games (cheaper that way, and the games are new to me!). I also have a DS, so I wanted to see if I could get any game recommendations for those 2 consoles. To give you an idea of what I like, I love the following games:

-Kingdom Hearts
-Grand Theft Auto
-Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
-Professor Layton: The Curious Village (although it was too short for me)

So Im more into adventurous games, not crazy about PURE RPG. Contrary to the list of my "happy" games, I also like dark/bloody video games (I was a huge DOOM fan at the age of 10!).

Thanks!

For bloody, get God of War. For fun, get Katamari Damacy. I've been told that Ōkami is good.

Doom sucks nowadays, get some good games on PS2, they are still popular though, but a worth every penny, get a PS3! :D

honestly, my friend -- I haven't played that game since the late 90's

Any of three Castlevania DS games. Third one will come out soon later in this month. I can recommanded Children of Mana as well. I also strongly recommanded Chrono Trigger DS, come out in November this year.

You should get these for PS2:

You could get Lego Batman bundle that has the 3rd version of the Playstation 2 model that lacks the AC adaptor and is about 5% smaller than the 2nd version.

If you dont want the one with Lego Batman, there are still some that are sold seperately in both black or silver of the 3rd version.

I have DS and I am a big fan of Ace Attorney: Phoenix Wright series. This is not bloody type. It is about a lawyer who is investigating his cases. Very interesting.

Tell me about the Kingdom Hearts and Zelda. I love adventurous games but not bloody kind. I don't care for arcade games.

A new Kingdom Hearts game based on the GBA title Chain of Memories is coming to the PS2 December 2nd.

I just started playing Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories for DS, and I don't know if I'm spoiled but Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 for PS2 were so awesome and Chain of Memories pales in comparison. Also if you don't know the background of Kingdom Hearts, the game can be very confusing. It also has some elements of RPG. I recommend Zelda: Phantom Hourglass. It is an great adventure game with a lot of variety.

Everyone else, thanks for your recommendations!!
