I have been in the retail industry for a long time. I have been curious what other deaf people's current occupation / career / job are? I have been thinking about becoming a web developer but just want to get an idea what other deaf people currently working at. Anyways, let me know thanks.

Hahaha! I love your avatar. I work as a serial entrepreneur. It's high risk, but high reward. :)

I plan to go to grad school soon, though.
 
I'm a massage therapist.

When I went to school for it in 2007 I had severe loss in ear, which was aided and profound in the other, which wasn't aided. There was a guy in my class with. Cochlear implant.

I did it for a few years hoh, then did it for even more years deaf after I lost more hearing. Now I myself have a cochlear implant. I work with a male massage therapist that has severe loss and wears hearings aids. I've been a member of massage therapist groups on Facebook and know there's more out there but it's not real common. I befriended one deaf therapist from the group, she has a severe ski slope loss that is hard to aid so she doesn't usually wear them, lip reads.

Sure it is. A little harder now because it's so competitive in the job market and even though the employment rate in general is down, it feels like it's difficult to find anything- that may depend on where you live too.
 
SCM is cool. There are a couple programs in Canada that offer a degree in it. I also love all the other major acronyms (Customer Relationship Management, Enterprise Resource Planning, etc . . . ). All cool stuff :)

You get SCM down, you can definitely move forward to a nice paycheck.
 
Sounds good mate, it's a college diploma for now but afterwards maybe I'll work on a degree
 
My instructor has a degrading/progressive hearing loss, I feel bad for him so I was like make sure you don't lose it lol
 
He will be my instructor again this Fall :D So he knows where I'm coming from

He has to ask students to repeat sometimes or get closer

Thanks Muse, I love my avatar, I try to be as creative as I can be. What do you do as a serial entrepreneur? And what grad school you planning on attending?

Monika, what do you do as a IT person? I know there are several fields in IT. To name some: Routing/Switching Network Admin, Data Center, Cyber Security, Computer Support Specialists, Computer Programmers, Software Developers - Systems, Software Developer - Applications.

That's awesome Ambrosia, I do have a friend who is a massage therapist. She enjoys her career path.

I enjoy learning HTML, CSS, Javascript and some other languages like PHP and MySQL, I would like to develop web pages for clients or work in a big company where I can design their public website and their private intranet websites. I think this is the path I would like to take. I have been curious of what other deaf people are doing in the career industries.

Don't forget Quality Assurance Testing (we're always the last and usually the first to get tossed when budget time comes....). I am (or was...?) a QA Tester. All my experience is in mainframe testing though- which I love... I like working with Mainframe and COBOL (no comments about whether it's dying or outlived its usefulness... it's still viable and there are still jobs out there- just a little harder to GET one..sigh..). I'm trying to learn other stuff but due to a few factors (personally...) these days it's getting harder to get a job...
