If you do not know what kind of chemical is being used I would not assumed it's safe .

I might not know it, but I DO know no one here has ever gotten sick from it. I shall ask more about it when they come again in May. Heck, they might come before that. I'll leave this thread open so I can update what kind they use.

Yeah. Only problem is that my Dad still has the potential to be violent, and at his age, that's not a good thing. Kinda makes me sad, though-- I have a wish for him to be more mellow, but when someone disses him, he doesn't back down so easily, unlike I can.

Mark, can I ask, is this the mother that you went to visit not too long ago? That makes me sad to hear a mother can hurt her own child. I am really sorry she did that to you. Sometimes when you share a little about your past we all get to know you a little better and understand why you might say the things you do. I hope your father learns how to deal with his anger. Life is too short to be miserable all the time. Thanks for sharing your story Mark. You are making some positive steps, good job.

No. That was my stepmom, who is much better than my real mom, who abused me pretty good. I don't think she was well equipped to handle my behavior back then, which is a major reason why I chose to stay around here-- so I can get help if it ever reaches that point, but my potential for violence has long gone, and that ship had since sailed off. I am anti-violence, and pro-peace, and I like to interact with others. I am really trying hard to learn how things work around here, but it's not been easy.

Mark, if you get confused on something or wonder why someone says something just ask one of us. You can always PM and I will do my best to help. I am proud of you for making the changes you have. No one is perfect, we all have changes we can make.

Yeah, I am pleased that I am doing better around here than I was before-- think that break I took last week did me some good, and apparently I seem to have changed a little since I was here prior to my break, and people are noticing. I'm not where I want to be by any means, but as long as I am professional and courteous here, I'll be all right.

Well you know that explains why all the problems and paranoia we've seen from you, Mark. Just so you feel better and understand things most of us have not experienced abusive parents so we just didn't understand some of your posts. Now that you've explained a little bit of your story it makes us understand you a little better and things will definitely improve from this point on.

And as for life being hard, well, it's your attitude that matters. You would think that people who have a perfect background and perfect body are always happy and all but sometimes it's not the case. It's kind of ironic but you reach perfection when you are happy not being perfect.

I will never reach perfection, and as one famous person said, I should never be satisfied with what I have, and should always strive for better results, or something along those lines. Point being, I am never content with what I have, and always strive to improve. Not sure who it was said that.
 
Spraying inside the house won't kill brown recluses. An exterminator told me it was a scam, and I agree. Just get rid of the clutter because they hide in dark places, including around boxes and sometimes in clothing in closets.

I agree with you ! The outside of the building where sprayed for ants every summer and time the guys doing the spraying spilled some of the spray right in front of my step and the crap was not cleaned up so it left a big stain .
I saw ants walking right over the spot of 'poison' ant spray and we still get tons on ants around here . I uses cayenne pepper powder round my kitchen sink to keep the ants away . They come in when it get very hot outside looking for food and water.
 
Something cheaper to get rid of ants......glass cleaner with ammonia.....not only kills them but masks their "freeway"....
 
Living in Florida.....and I do not have any insects as ants or Roaches in my house....Still feel it's a good idea to get a good exterminator to come in every 2 months...The spray they use these days has very little fumes...I cannot smell it...but still I always go outside for several hours...and when I had Cockatiels, I took their cages outside too.....

You can't put a Cockatiels cage outside every 2 months where I live. I lived in my condo for almost 30 years and I never had an exterminator in my unit. I do not want any of the crap in my home. I think we're doing more harm than good with the chemicals we keep using. The bees are and bats are dying off and we needs both of them. .

You think my condominium complex doesn't have pest control that sprays all the time? Guess what, I still sometimes run into insects. It's not a guarantee they won't make their way in... it's a preventative....

I know that. It's just that there's not been too many spiders around here in the house the last few years. Mainly I see tiny flies that dart right in front of me and make me go cross-eyed to keep them in view.

Some good news related with clutter-- I got my closet cleaned out yesterday, and now it's much better than ever before. Now if I could only get those old fashioned TV 's downstairs without snapping an ankle, I'd be dandy. One of them is rather large and is, oh, about 40-45 years old.
